Description of 1966 Chevrolet El Camino |
Selling my 1966 El Camino. Car was restored in 2000. built with a 383 stoker and 4 speed. Car was great but I wanted the car to be more drivable. so in 2012 I did the LS conversion. I used a 6. 0 ltr Cadillac Escalade motor (LQ9) and bought a new Tremec T-56 Magnum kit from American Powertrain. I added Billet March pulley kit and a twin disk Mcloud clutch. I wanted to retain the stock look in the interior so from American Powertrain I bought a shifter that allowed to use the Hurst Shifter in stock location. The dash and gauges are from a 1966 Chevelle SS and all function with the LS. I also used a SS Steering wheel. center console and bucket seats (1965) and hood from the car too. The blue is a DuPont blue from Jeff Gordon's rainbow warrior car . the blue sets the car apart from others. its a fantastic color because it is not a radical color. and it appears to be a factory color. even though it was not. Has a custom made bed cover. its in wood. covered in black vinyl and helps keep the clean look of the car. The front end suspension was rebuilt in 2012 before the trip to KY. 18" Boss wheels with the grey center don't take away from the car and match great. I also added Kooks stainless mufflers with an X pipe. the car sounds great! I smoothed out the firewall and also added a undercover innovations cover that really cleaned up the engine bay. The car is very clean. but it is not perfect. not selling as a show car but as a driver because it does have some paint chips from the rd. However. its has won a couple awards at local car shows and in 2013 I took the car to Holley's LS Fest in Kentucky and the car won an award from Chevy High Performance. along with a spread in the magazine. The article came out in 2014. nbsp;http://www. superchevy. com/features/1408-1966-chevrolet-el-camino-the-ss-that-never-was/. Please email if you have more questions or want more pictures.
