Description of 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

This is a low-mileage survivor real-deal 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396. Yes, that's right! It might be a mouthful to say, but Chevelle people know they are looking a Holy Grail car. It's got its original big block, original four-speed, believed to be original paint, and original survivor interior. Plus, it has the correct documents to prove you're driving a real Super Sport coupe.
Most people are going to think you did a restoration with a modern color. After all, the Shadow Gray with black SS stripes is that perfect dark-on-dark attitude that so many new muscle machines are going for today. And the level of shine looks like you invested nicely in this setup. So just imagine how low jaws will drop when you tell people that this is not only the factory-correct colors, but it's also believed to be the same paint applied at the Kansas City factory nearly a half-century ago! How do you get such a desirable car like '70 Chevelle SS to be a true survivor? First, it helps that it has only averaged about 1,200 miles annually, so there are hardly any marks on this coupe from being enjoyed on the open road. And responsible care also means exceptional sheetmetal so you get to fully enjoy the fastback profile, form-fitting chrome bumpers, and well-creased fenders. And of course, we love all the sporty details like the power bulge in the cowl hood, all the SS badging, and the 14-inch SS Mag-style wheels. No modifications, alterations, or additions... yes, there is such thing as a '70 Chevelle SS survivor!
This coupe was optioned correctly, so when you open the door, you get everything you want in a muscle car. That means a black interior, bucket seats, center console, and a Hurst shifter. Plus, the door panels, carpeting, headliner, and everything else feels like there has been real care in keeping it original. It's this perseverance that really makes the car even more of a standout today. When you slip behind the dual-spoke SS wheel, you see that the driver-oriented dash looks amazing. And it's great to see all the factory elements in place like the hear/defrost controls and the original AM radio that's still cranking out tunes. There are plenty of Chevelles that have been updated to fit more modern times (we even have great ones like that for sale, too) but if you appreciate a car that can instantly transport you back to 1970, then this is your time machine.
But what really makes this the star of any show is the numbers-matching optional 396 big-block V8. Everything you want on this motor is correct the chrome valve covers, bright air topper with callouts, decals, etc. Even the Rochester four-barrel carb is believed to be original. The exhaust has been replaced recently, which tells you the right maintenance has been performed. Another sign of the right care comes when you experience how eagerly and smoothly this big block fires up. And the growl of that newer dual exhaust is invigorating (especially as you take control of it with the Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission.) So while this coupe's historic significance is epic and apparent, the massive power combined with great driving features like power steering, front disc brakes, and sway bars front & rear will mean you can't resist adding a few miles to the odometer.
The only way a true Super Sport can be verified is through the right paperwork, like the original window sticker or the buildsheet and we have them both! So few Chevelles have this kind of documentation, and so to find it on a survivor that's in such exceptional condition is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Don't miss this one, call today!
