Description of 1951 Chevrolet Other Pickups Tow Truck

***TOWING EQUIPMENT --- AWESOME PROJECT OR PARTS VEHICLE******I-6 ENGINE --- FLOOR SHIFTSTORED SINCE THE 90s --- NOT RUNNING*** This is a 1951 Chevy tow truck 3600 model 3/4 ton. The owner passed away and the family asked me to list the truck. It is not running. it has no brakes and the transmission will not shift out of gear. The vehicle does roll easy if someone holds the clutch pedal down. The truck was last inspected in the late 90s. I'm guessing that was the last time it ran. The engine is not locked up. The towing equipment is there and the truck even comes with the original owner's manual. It was sold to the last owner by a dealership in Chesterfield. The previous owner was Southside Chevrolet in Victoria. Virginia - a dealership that has apparently been out of business for years. The photos tell the story of the vehicle. It would be an ambitious. yet doable project or rat rod or something really creative. It could also be an advertising tool for a towing company or use it for parts. Email any question and you can ask for a phone number to set up a time to see the truck. It is in Chesterfield. Virginia 23838. The body has some dings and dents. peeling or cracked paint plus some rust showing. Vehicle is pretty complete. All glass is there - driver side is cracked; tires hold air and roll. Wheels are 16-inch 8-lug aluminum that were added by a previous owner. The exterior mirrors are later model. Bumper is made from wood.   Wrecker has parts from Holmes and Manley Division American Chain and Cable Company Interior has a single bench seat which is not in bad shape Note floor shifter and rubber mat. It has a starter that you step on. A previous owner added the turn signal switch on the column. Instruments Speedometer Fan plugs into cigar lighter - we have not hooked a battery up to the vehicle to see if the electrics work Single sun visor - still has some material on the top Cab roof Nice emblem on heater box - glove box has original manual plus some inspections stickers - pictured below Driver side door Passenger side door The engine is an inline 6 - it is not locked or frozen and has not run in years. We have not tried to get it running. Engine has a generator Distributor side of engine Driver side firewall Someone added a remote oil filter Fan and radiator Fuel pump and road draft tube Sticker by the fuel pump - I'm guessing it was from an engine rebuilder Passenger side of the firewall with horns Underside of the hood VIN plate on the driver side a-pillar Close-up of the VIN/serial number - I got this info from the decoder on Stovebolt dot com: Serial #  : 14JRD2912  Mfg Date  : April. 951  Model     : 3600 3/4 ton  Wheelbase : 125. 25 inches  Plant     : Baltimore. MD Title is from 1991. We can change the title to a new Virginia title for the buyer. I found these items in the glove box - old registration from a former Chevy dealership. some old inspection stickers and the owner's manual Manual hadn't been opened in years. I crawled underneath for the underside shots - beam front axle Passenger side of the front Driver side of the front Driver side shot from the back of the truck Driveshaft of the truck Passenger side of the truck from the rear This is under the bed - the holes may have been drilled Rear end Passenger side rear suspension Driver side rear suspension Wooden bumper kept the grill from getting banged up Hood emblem Driver front fender has a couple of dents Glass is old The paint is peeling in places and cracked in places Side glass on driver side is cracked; rest of glass is OK but old Someone installed later model exterior mirrors Running boards feel solid when you stand on them but have some rust holes Sticker is from the dealer the owner purchased it from in 1991 This is a you crank it tow truck Tow equipment It has Manley on the cover for the grease Close-up of the cover Manley Division American Chain and Cable Company plate  Boom Rear fender - this tire is the best one - it is a radial 285X85X16 Both rear fenders have been dinged It has not been used in years - we didn't try to work it The two handles have Holmes on them Passenger side rear fender The rear tire has a gash in it but holds air - looks like it has an inner tube Battery box and I'm guessing that bracket is for a spare tire The cab corner on this side has rusted - driver side is in better shape. There are some rust holes in the running board. Cab roof has lights and a beacon Beacon has a tag from Sireno Both sides of the cab have grab rails Old inspection sticker from the 90s If you are seriously interested in this truck my advice is to come and see it.
