Description of 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS

What we have here is a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Factory ordered SS 396 L-78 375 HP with 4.56's. I am the second owner since new and it has only clocked 7202 miles. The gentleman that I bought it from ordered it in late '67 and took ownership in January of '68 from University Chevrolet in Seattle Wa. He street raced it on the weekends until late '70 and then Roland the owner and His brother Ray set out to see if they could set a national record in the super stock class. They did what they set out to do and won the national record at Bremerton Raceway in Washington on May 18 in 1974, with a 11.09 ET. The car run in the high 10s, low 11s. The car was raced all over on the west coast, Seattle, Portland, Yakima, Kent, Bremerton, Los Angeles, Pomona, Ontario and others. In '75 the rules were changing on cages with E.T's and the owner did not want to cut the car or alter it for the new rules. The car was parted in the garage in '75 and never came out until late '99. A friend of the owner Barry got the car out of storage, cleaned it up and put it back on the street. He drove it a few time and then put it back in storage. The history and paper work I have on this car is outstanding. I even have the original wheel and tires along with hub caps that came off of it when it was about a mouth old. He said they were stored in a spare bedroom under the bed. The car now has a 396 with L-89 842 aluminum heads. It does not have the original engine or trans, but he did have all the original parts off the original engine minus the block. The original engine cracked a cylinder, so it was pulled and put in the corner of the shop and replaced with another engine early in it's race days. A few years later he stripped the engine and tossed the block:( I have another date correct engine that was built with the use of original parts that were in good shape, heads, crank, intake etc. Everything else was replaced with new parts, pistons, cam, timing chain etc. I have a accel dual point distributor, coil and carburetorthat I pulled off when I got the car and was replaced with new components. Of coarse the car has headers and 2 1/2 exhaust with flow masters. The only original part I can't find I know I have is the exhaust manifolds. The car will be sold without them, but if I locate them, they will go to the buyer of the car. The car still retains it's original radiator, shroud and alternator. There's a whole list of parts and doc's that I'll list below. The car has been stored indoor's it's whole life and has Zero rust. It has never been wrecked, had a roll cage or frame connectors. Theinterior is 100% original, except the carpet was replaced. The dash, seats, headliner, etc are all in beautiful condition. It still smells like a new car inside. As well as the car, there will be ( 2 ) 4x4x3 crates that will need to be shipped as well. One has the spare engine and the other has all the parts. The car is truly a time capsule and hard to believe it's 50 years old. The car runs good and is a attention magnet. I have never raced the car since I've owned it, just a few weekend cruses. This is a NO B.S car with the history and doc's that are second to none. Life brings changes and I've decided to let it go to another good home and if your serious and have questions, please drop me note.
