Description for Chevrolet Other 1950

This car is not a restoration or a rat rod. It has the look and feel of a car that has been garaged and driven regularly for almost 70 years. It runs and drives great. I took it to the Boise Roadster Show a few weeks ago--lotta fun!The 235 engine is not original to the car. Though it was available with a 235, this one came with a 216 with a 3-speed manual on the column. At some point prior to my relationship with this beauty, the engine was swapped for a 1963 model 235. This engine is fully pressurized and a desirable upgrade from what was available in 1950. It is still three on the tree. This engine swap caused some confusion with the VIN since Chevy used the engine numbers for a VIN back then. It has been worked out and the new title uses the body VIN as issued by Fisher Carriages (the builder of Chevy bodies of that period).Tires are in good shape, The brakes are drums and I have not inspected them--I can say that they work well enough to stop this heavy car as expected. The previous owner did some lowering work as he envisioned a lead-sled type low-rider. I have restored the ride height to almost stock. The back is stock but the front is a touch low since he cut one coil out of the springs--hard to tell--rides fine. New shocks all around. Oil recently changed. The seats have been taken down to the springs and redone from with burlap, foam, and fabric. The carpet and headliner are also new. I have the fabric for the door panel, but have not purchased the cardboards themselves yet. The windlace, rear dash, and front kick panels are also new.I installed new door, hood, and trunk rubber stops to better absorb sound and vibration. Everything fits up tight with no rattles now. There is some rust here and there under the door sills and a small hole on the driver's side floor pan. The floors were all covered with Dynamat prior to installing the carpet, so the hole is sealed--not repaired. The only thing missing is a headlight bezel. Those are cheap and easy to find--a few bucks. I have all the armrests, and door fitting not installed in a box for when I completed the door panels. This is an original 6V car with a new 6V battery. It is using the original generator but I have a brand new Delco type, single-wire, 6V alternator and universal mount ready to install. The generator works fine if you know how to drive a car with a generator, but I thought an alternator would make it a bit more bullet-proof.AM radio is original. It turns on, but no sound is produced.Even the clock and glove box light work. The dome light does not.All external bulbs are correct 6V so they are not dim. The headlights are new low-draw 6V halogens. The car has an aftermarket turn signal switch on the column but it has never been hooked up. I may just remove it. The car was built without turn signals.Contact me with questions.I might take the right motorcycle in partial trade, but cash is preferred. As is--where is. I will not deliver.
