Description of 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

1969 Cortez Silver Big Block 4 Speed ConvertibleRestored AZ Camaro with M22 *VIDEO* LRX11 Re-listingGeneral BackgroundNo doubt about it. this is one stunning ground up restored Cortez Silver Camaro convertible in one of the best color combinations ever seen on a Camaro. The Arizona owner of 15 years commissioned a complete professional sheet metal. mechanical and cosmetic rebuild. (details herein) That was 10. 00 miles ago. so its now been cosmetically refreshed with many new engine bay and new interior parts. a complete new 3" Flowmaster exhaust system from the headers through tail pipes. all new Premium convertible top with zip out window. and boot cover. The new top is very nicely fitted and the flowmasters broadcast that muscular lopey sound we all love. After a thorough inspection. my team brought the car to a higher standard by correcting or repairing a lot of little things. too many to list. nbsp; but nothing really major was needed. New fuel sending unit. new E-brake system. new speedometer. doors and hood re-adjusted for better overall fitment. fixed hood latch and trunk latch. installed trunk tension rods. refreshed engine bay and installed new Accell HEI distributor and MSD racing wires. new plugs. replaced some bulbs and cleaned up some wiring etc. Body/PaintNice straight body with no apparent bondo. There are 4 small dimples in the hood that no one seems to see. Quarters were well done. In the original color. the 2 stage silver paint. clear coat and painted stripes are still very good still shiny. even. and not at all faded or cracked. Nice. but not flawless. the paint job has 10. 00 miles on it and it is a very nice driver quality. Camaro has a few chips at the door edges touched up by my body shop and matches well. It appears there is just the one coat of paint over primer. not layers painted over. The bumpers. trim chrome. mirrors. emblems still look new. Its an 8+. easily. The Restoration by prior ownerThe owner is an Arizona resident who indicated that the Camaro's subframe was removed. car completely disassembled. floors including trunk and both full quarters replaced. as well as inner fenders. All new body and tranny mounts etc. In looking at the car it appears this was done and appears to be professional work. So. yes he brought this car to Arizona from back East. Thus we have all that metal work done! Also. the entire drive train was thoughtfully rebuilt to handle all that torque from a rebuilt 454 by installing Disk brakes. an M-22 Rock Crusher 4 speed. a 9" Ford Posi unit (street rodders' favorite) and frame connectors. As you may know. Camaros don't have much of a frame and especially in a convertible. frame connectors make a lot of sense. He said the 10. 00 miles he put on the car was local driving. local shows and parades. Power Plant details/Engine BayThe owner said the rebuilt engine was a 1971 LS5. but the heads are 73 which is partly why there is no detonation on pump gas. The carb is a Holley list 3310-6. a 4150 series with dual inlet. (Not a DP) Intake is Edelbrock Torker II. Exhaust is through Summit Racing Headers. Motor seems to have a mild cam and runs strong. no smoke. no noises. Starts instantly and idles at only 800 rpm. no hesitation. put your foot in it and hang on. Engine bay shows new dripper style factory valve covers and air cleaner. One nice thing to see is that the factory cooling system is all in tact. Factory BBC radiator with factory style clutch fan and factory style shroud works well and running just 175 degrees on a Big Block without electric fans is a rare thing! TransmissionM-22 Rock Crusher with Hurst handle and linkage. Shifts smoothly. clutch is working well. nbsp; trans mounted solidly. no shaking handle. Rock crusher name I think depicted a tougher transmission that can have a hum or whine when it gets to temperature. With the radio off after 30 minutes of driving. I think I can hear a hum. These M-22's are highly coveted. a good one will cost you over $2. 00. when you can even find one. I don't know the gears but i'ts Positraction with nice highway gears so the speedometer is correct. for a change. Suspension/Steering/BrakesMy mechanic inspected it as we almost always have to replace the rubber in body mounts or front end bushings. He said everything was tight and ok. I believe the car has air shocks. the ride is a little stiff for my taste. The car flies straight. no pulling to either side. We replaced the rag joint as the steering seemed loose. that fixed it. The Camaro stops really well for not having a power booster. Its a double master with disc brakes and does not need power assist. Over rough roads. like up where I live. the top rattles until you hit regular pavement. Glass All very good. Front windshield is nice. clear. unchipped. sealed well. All side windows are very dark tint. which I normally remove butsome like it and it does a great job of protecting the window from scratches from the rolling guides inside the door. (You can remove the tint with a hand steamer. peels right off. ) Windows roll up and down ok. Top is brand new and never been down so the rear window is totally unscratched. I bought the top with the zip out window so that you can zip it out. then lower it so it does not get scratched up. InteriorNew door panels. new sun visors. new arm rests. new door cranks. new seat hinge covers. interior shop re upholstered driver seat. new rubber on pedals. new sill plates. Seats are all in good condition. not sagging from weak springs. Dash pad (not a cap) is still very nice. Carpets are serviceable. driver side showing some wear. not bad. Convertible top boot has never been on the car and is still in its storage case. Overall. looks pretty nice. There is a Kenwood CD/Mp3 Stereo with remote control with 2 good sounding speakers in the kick panels. Dash Panel/GaugesSpeedometer and Fuel gauge have clear faces and unfaded dial faces and both operating properly. There are a set of good quality Auto meter gauges for oil. temp. and volts. Also a large Autometer tachometer that is working. Amp gauge is not wired. Wood steering wheel with Chevy logo. but the horn is not working. Fan control and defrost knobs are missing but looks like cables are present and connected and sliders work. Lights/ ElectricalHeadlights. tail lights. signal lights. brake lights and wipers work as designed and gauges are illuminated. One nice thing I can appreciate is that this is factory style wiring and not a lot of amateur wiring that I am so used to seeing on other Camaros and Chevelles. Battery is strong. alternator is charging and starting circuit is good. Frame/UndercarriageClean and solid as you would expect from a total restoration. Floors and frame are solid. There is a picture of the frame connectors. Arizona has been kind to theundercarriage. Wheels/Tires15'' BFG Radial TAs on Rally rims and stainless steel beauty rims. Wheels are good and rims look nearly new. I estimate tires have 80% tread on back 65% on front and one has a small tread cut. but not to the cords. Overall DependabilityI have driven this Camaro around to my team's workshops and my opinion is that this is a pretty reliable car that can be driven daily just as it is. both cosmetically and mechanically sound. There is a slight drip from the rear end. may need a gasket. What's Left So much has already been done. but as they say with these old classics. ITS NEVER DONE! I don't have room to keep this. I already have 3 Camaros. a Chevelle. nbsp;Mercedes and an El Camino for a 4 car garage. If I could. I would put a power steering kit in and softer shocks. Also I think one rear leaf spring was removed to lower it. which I'm told also makes it stiffer. Bottom line. this is a great looking Camaro you can drive and enjoy every day. right now. I have done restorations for many years with highly qualified people. However. I am not a mechanic nor a body man. I have represented this car as best I can based on my experience and the skilled people I rely on. I genuinely welcome questions and I will respond quickly. Inspections are recommended. but only before auction end. Deposit is $1500 Non refundable to my paypal account or FedEx cashiers check within 24 hours. The balance to be paid within 5 business days. Be sure to have your funds ready. I cannot wait to see if your bank will finance you. Vehicle is sold as is. where is with no warranty of any kind. Plates. license. ID plates*This Camaro is licensed and registered in AZ and the prior owner lives in Prescott . AZ as I said he owned it 15 years and new owner can have his information. The trim tag is on the firewall. where it belongs and appears affixed with factory rivets. * During the restoration. apparently there was some rust at the left top of the dash probably from a windshield leak. nbsp;a metal repair was done. removing the tag. These tags can be legitimately reproduced or will be reissued subject to your own states requirements. In California. I was told it may take several months and they issue new dash tag and title and rivet the CA replacement tag. For the added "hassle factor. we have reduced the buy it now and the reserve and recommend you verify with your state on procedures for reassigned vins. Since it is in Arizona. there is nothing needed to re-register it. of course. On Feb-05-15 at 19:40:37 PST. seller added the following information:http://youtu. be/zjCQnSgYets THIS IS VIDEO LINK or go to UTUBE and type in Diane Schneider in the search field. its the first video. On Feb-05-15 at 20:24:52 PST. seller added the following information: This Camaro DOES have Positraction and disc brakes. The camera I used is 12 years old and cannot handle the AUDIO on the video. The car sounds great. unfortunately the video sound does not do it justice. Am already getting offers. but I will stick with the auction process unless Buy It Now is hit. of course. On Feb-07-15 at 07:04:07 PST. seller added the following information:I have sold cars to bidders that were rated zero or 1 so a low rating is not necessarily indicative of a person that is not serious or not qualified. That said. I do require that bidders with low ratings contact me with information about themselves within 24 hours of their bid or I may cancel their bid. Thank you for your understanding! On Feb-07-15 at 10:33:05 PST. seller added the following information:Oil pressure is good. Weather stripping is still soft and supple. new quarter window verticals as az heat destroys rubber. Car has now been moved into storage. as I have NO ROOM at my home. A location will be provided for inspection. Please. ASK QUESTIONS before you hit buy it now. On Feb-12-15 at 13:51:11 PST. seller added the following information:Answer to one question:Yes. The title is clear. current and an original Arizona title and AZ registration/tags are current as well. Car was registered in AZ and in PA for 15 years. On Feb-12-15 at 15:27:47 PST. seller added the following information:On Feb-12-15 at 15:34:28 PST. seller added the following information:On Feb-12-15 at 15:55:20 PST. seller added the following information: Yes this car always. to my knowledge had this same VIN number and it was on both original titles and the AZ DMV issued an AZ title and to do that. the AZ DMV checks the prior title with PA and shows its film number. The issue is that the plate with that number is missing which sometimes happens with restorations. The cowl tag is still present and the titles are completely normal. If you want/need that plate there is a procedure in some states to get it reissued. some only care about the title ownership history to be sure the VIN is valid and vehicle was not stolen. AZ does not require state inspections for tags. California. Im told is very strict and you do have to process it through their DMV for a CA assigned number. It just takes time and not everyone is willing to wait. On Feb-12-15 at 17:09:04 PST. seller added the following information:Just got off the phone with the owner who lives who has had the car a long time. He said after the restoration he did have to have PA verify the vin tag matching the title vin number. and they did. He says it should still be there. perhaps under the repair. He has the old original PA title still in his records if that will help with processing. In the meantime we are looking for it and I will update. He also said anyone seriously concerned can talk to him as he has good records on the ownership. In any case. either a reproduction tag or a state assigned tag should be able to be obtained with the title history. On Feb-12-15 at 19:28:20 PST. seller added the following information:I spoke with the owner of 15 years. He said Pa dmv verified the vin and he still has the original title in his name showing the exact same vin as is on az title so there is no conflict and a clear history. he said he will provide that title in addition to the az title to assist with any paperwork requirements to assist new owner. He feels the tag should still be there rivited from the underside. but we are not seeing it with the repair. On Feb-13-15 at 07:35:57 PST. seller added the following information:Serious buyers should call me before entering a final bid. I want all your specific questions answered. This is not a fresh restoration. The car was driven 10. 00 miles and condition is driver quality. Everyone out here thinks it's beautiful but people have different standards. If you want specific details about the restoration and you are high bidder you can talk to the man that commissioned it. On Feb-13-15 at 08:52:36 PST. seller added the following information:A few potential buyers said there is at least one company in Hemings that reproduces vin tags if you have valid title that not rebuild or salvage. which it is not either. It's a Regular title and clear ownership history. I did some research and in those states that do require a tag inspection. it's just a form. a fee and show your documents for the title search. There were even some California owners that got tag done in a few days. but it's a very busy dmv and it could take much longer. one CA buyer said.
