Description of 1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups

This is a highly detailed frame off build and Magazine Cover Truck for Classic Trucks along with a 4 page feature. It's done right and if you are a car guy you will appreciate the quality and detail work that went in to it. It has approximately 3000 miles on it since completion and although it is a show stopper it is meant to be driven and drives great. The theme of the truck started out as "Rat Rod" but quickly turned in to show quality. It carries a Corvette them throughout including the flags on the front fenders. Corvette shielding on the motor. Corvette fuel filter and valve covers. a tilt telescopic column with a 56 Corvette steering wheel and Corvette rear view mirror on the dash complete with the raised portion to mate up to it. The body has been smoothed and it is laser straight. The door gaps are as good as any you will see on one of these trucks. By using 2 sets of doors to make 1 set. the gaps are now 3/8". The firewall has been smoothed and a panel fabricated that hides the wiring. The paint is flat mint green. Bumpers. mirrors. wheels. taillights. headlight rings. grille and gas cap are painted cream to off set the green. The bottom of the cab. bed and inner fenders are red oxide. Everything on the truck is painted or powder coated. All of the weatherstrip is new. The glass is original but in great shape. The interior is full of subtle changes that make it unique. A second dash hump was added on the passenger side. Push the center portion and it opens up to access the Pioneer tuner. Behind what appears to be the factory vents in the kick panels is a pair of speakers along with 2 additional speakers behind the seat. A Lokar shifter and emergency brake are floor mounted on top of a factory style rubber ribbed mat. When you open the doors. you notice that the step area and door jambs look as good as the outside of the truck and a metal finish piece was fabricated and painted silver to blend the opening with the rubber mat. The seat is covered in a period correct black/white pattern. To the left of the dash is the Ride Tech gauge with front to rear buttons mounted under the dash where they can't be seen. The tilt telescopic column came out of a 1972 Cadillac and has a 1956 Corvette steering wheel mounted to it. To telescope the column you twist the Corvette horn cap. What used to be the factory vent controls now control the heater along with a rheostat heater knob. The handles and wing vent knobs are original. A 12 volt accessory plug has been flush mounted in the passenger kick panel. The gas tank lives behind the seat. A dome light is mounted above the back window. The headliner insert is black to match the seat. The truck is equipped with seat belts. Late model style gas pedal was added along with updated brake pedal to operate the power brakes and it is also equipped with power steering. The bottom side looks as good as the top. Almost everything is new. A Camaro sub frame has been added to the front along with disc brakes. The entire frame has been sandblasted and powder coated semi gloss black. All front end components are have been replaced. Ride Tech bags are at all 4 corners. The compressor. tank and valves are mounted underneath the cab. The same Camaro donated the 3:73 rear end that is mounted with a 4 link. The shocks have been positioned as limiters so you can jack up the truck without pulling the bags apart. The builder of the truck is a pipe fitter and you will see that in the way the brake and fuel lines are run. The exhaust is hand fabricated and exits the back. The battery is mounted underneath and has a master disconnect in the cab so you will not need a battery tender. It has a trailer hitch with 2" receiver for pulling small trailers. The engine is a completely rebuilt 350 with a 350 turbo behind complete with shift kit. It has a part number 113941 Crane cam with 454 Intake lift. All engine parts came from Summit. It has the Corvette theme with Hugger Orange paint. Corvette style air cleaner. valve covers. fuel filter and shielding. The fan shroud hides a 16" Spal electric fan. It is hand fabricated and has never over heated. The hood hinges are powder coated silver and the inner fenders have been neatly trimmed and metal finished to allow the control arms to swing up without clearance issues. The underneath side of the hood is finished just like the top. Hidden behind the shielding is a Mallory Unilite. The inside of the bed sides are as straight as the rest of the truck. The wood floor is finished and stained with a gray distressed look and has flush tie downs mounted in each corner. Bed strips are painted silver. Wheels are 55 Chevy passenger car powder coated cream mounted on 195/75/15 Coker wide whites in the front and 225/75/15 in the rear. Hubcaps are also painted to match. One of the hub caps has a small piece of paint that has chipped off. I will provide spare paint for any touch ups that need to be done. Like anything that is driven it does have some small imperfections. The front bumper has a few very small paint chips and the bottom of the front bumper has been scraped (although you can't see it unless you get it up in the air) from driving up a drive way too low. This truck will drive low unlike other trucks that look great sitting still but you have to air them way up to drive. Included is a car cover. I was at Barrett Jackson a few weeks ago and watched trucks not as nice bring way more than this one can be bought for. It is also listed on the Goodguys website so if it sells I will end the auction. Please call with any questions. I'm a life long car guy and I when I buy cars online I like to talk to the owner.
