Description of 1970 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS

Though it didn't make it to market until February of 1970, thus referring to it as a '70 1/2, the second generation Camaro proved ready for the street or strip by still offering a variety of optional performance power plants. The star was again the Z/28 and the SS buyers had a choice of small and big blocks up to 375hp ranges, built in very low limited production numbers, but all capable of running low 14 second ET's in street trim. As before, the Camaro was offered with Rally Sport or Super Sport equipment or both. The Rally Sport package featured a unique front-end appearance with a split front bumper and a center grille cavity encircled in rubber. The SS again had heavier duty suspension, a special black grille, power brakes, engine trim, white letter tires, chrome dual exhaust and SS logos. This car was built in the first week of the new Camaro's production and only 1 of approximately 200 396/350hp 4-speed cars. That number is even less when you consider the RS/SS package. Documented with its original Build Sheet. It has had a meticulous ground-up restoration with many modern, serious, high expense upgrades to make it perform better and effortlessly be a pleasure to drive and enjoy in a Pro-touring identity. Currently powered by a replacement Chevy big block engine with a Borg Warner Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and 3.31 ratio 12-bolt posi-traction rear end, that ensures no one takes this car lightly. With this combination, it is capable of low end gear torque and high speed highway cruising with the extra gears. Stopping this thoroughbred is a breeze with Corvette Z06 4-wheel power disc brakes that incorporate 13" front and 12" rear slotted/drilled polished rotors and big powdercoated calipers. Finally this piece of rolling art is complimented with very high quality Billet Specialties 20" and 18" wheels. This is a car that started life as a very rare model and is not one of those built up "wanna-be's". It is a real RS/SS 396 4-speed car with all the modern changes and upgrades demanded by today's classic and muscle car collector.
