Description of 1962 Chevrolet Impala

This is a tagged insured good running, driving, shifting, stopping old school ride to enjoy as is or to take to whatever level suits you. Is it a real SS..? It does have bucket seats, the center console with cup holders, and the SS badges...VIN#21847L233120de-coded is as follows: 2 =1962, 18 = Series Impala V8, 47 = Body Style 2 Door Sport Coupe, L = Los Angelas Plant Mfg., and the rest is the production sequence. Appears from cowl tag info to be SS clone

DRIVE TRAIN: I didn't do the build but here's what I was told about the drive train. SBC350 motor 2 bolt cut 030 over with 1.94 camel back heads, Melling high volume oil pump, 1.6 roller tip rockers, Crower cam, Crane push rods, Accel blueprint distributor w/ 53,000 volt Hypertech coil, Carter 600 cfm afb aluminum high flow water pump, Powermaster mini starter, Hedman headers, Centerline solid wheels with almost new tires. Has stainless steel front disc brakes and power brake booster. B&M mega shifter on 3 speed automatic (I don't know how to ID the transmission to tell you what it is). There a pile of paperwork and a 62' shop manual included in the sale.

GAUGES/LIGHTS/GLASS: Speedometer and odometer do not work. Original mileage is unknown. Add on volt meter, oil temp, water temp, and electric fan on manual switch do work. Interior lights, headlights both bright and dim foot controlled, and taillights all work. Currently having issues with turn signals. Its got to do with column signal switch. All glass is good with side and rear windows dark tinted. Windows roll up and down well and doors open and shut fine. Lap seat belts are installed.

INTERIOR: Don't know the proper term but I'd call it a crush velvet/velour type of texture, grey and black interior. Not screaming new but in really good shape, not dirty, or torn, and it's comfortable. Visors, headliner, dash, door panels all look good. Headliner is coming loose some along back window/sail panel area and back window deck interior is faded with speaker cut outs. I would definitely ad a sound system if I kept the car.

PAINT & BODY: This is a virtually RUST FREE car from the desert southwest with no known body work. Yes there is very minor surface rust underneath and in the trunk, but its very superficial. I would consider undercoating the car to continue to preserve it. Paint is a matte black which I like and it gives the car a badass sinister look. It is not a fancy high dollar paint job and there are scratches and thin places places when you really look. All chrome/stainless trim is in place. Included in the sale are the inner fenders in excellent condition just not installed, some spare window trim pieces, and a scooped fiberglass hood.

NOTES: Power steering works fine but pump leaks a little and whines and car pulls to left.
