Description of 1971 Chevrolet Nova SS

I am regretfully selling my 1971 Nova as I just do not have room for it and have another car project on the way. This car has all the good stuff in it and I spent over 10k alone in the engine. The engine is brand new and professional built bottom end (roughly 100 miles on it and I have the receipt). I would estimate the car has 460 - 480hp based on software simulation, but do not have actual dyno results. The Nova is an SS clone as I was unable to verify it, but I can tell you this car is a factory V8 car with options and not those 4 cylinder cars that folks build up. It has a 12-bolt rear end with multi-leaf springs that was said to be original by the rear end guy that put the Yukon axles and Richmond 3.73 gears in the car last year. It has front disc brakes and power steering.

The Nova has been stored in my insulated garage since I owed it over a year ago. It is currently registered as a classic car and has a clean title. The motor is a small block 406 with a forged bottom end and scat steel crank, which was installed last winter. I have also upgraded the clutch to a RAM 500 HP rated and the driveshaft (500 HP rated) was made custom by a driveline shop and is a 3-inch diameter. The exhaust is 3 inches and the headers are 1.75 so the car is loud. It has flowmasters as well. The transmission is an authentic 4 speed M-22 rock crusher, so this car is a blast to drive! I put a lot of work in making this Nova still look stock. But with all the performance goodies so it could hit the strip for a Saturday night if needed. The nova sounds great and is a real head turner! It's exterior color is Hugger orange with black strips.

So, what does the car need? I would say a paint touch-up as there are some chips and scratches that need some attention to make this a show car. The headliner has a small tear in the back and the passenger door needs to be adjusted. I would also install a radio as the current one I got with it was not working. There are also some chrome pieces around the rear window and a rear emblem I may replace. The car's chassis is stock except for some energy suspension bushings and koni shocks so that would also be on the list of things to do. The carpet is in good condition, but it could be upgraded. The seats are older and there is a small tear on one of them. I was going to put a bench in as the current seats are out of a Chevelle but they are very comfortable and do not need immediate replacement. The fuel and speedometer also do not work, but I did wire a fuel autometer fuel gauge. But given these monitor items I believe this is a nova in very good condition requiring several thousand dollars from being a show car. The Nada guide shows this car in excellent condition with the V8 and 4 speed as 30k.
