Description of 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Leather

This is numbers matching 4-Speed L-82 optioned CaliforniaCorvettewith freshly new two stage color sanded and buffed paint on a no-hit body which has never been in any kind of accident! Approximately 10% of1979Corvettescame with the 4-speed L-82 options and how many of those are left which are so well preserved and have never been in an accident? The second long time owner (who brought this car to California in 1983) even gave us the original tank sticker and the window sticker! Ahandfulat best have survived this well preserved since this corvette was born (manufactured) on October 12, 1978. Driving this car is like time travel back to the 70's!
This Corvette was purchased from the second owner who brought it to California in approximately 1983 and even kept the window sticker! I pestered the fastidious second owner for six months plus to get him to sellthis time capsule before we restored it. Sparingly driven, this 'vette is all original but we've made it ready to be driven anywhere!
EXTERIOR
The factory paint was all original and a five footer so we had it repainted in two stage with a color sand and buff. This 'vette even still had the original Goodyear tires on it when we picked her up so we installed brand new radials and polished the optioned slotted aluminum wheels to a mirror like finish: adding new wheel caps, emblems and lug nuts. The original spare tire (which looks never to have been on the ground), still has it's original factory lock in place and even the spare tire courtesy light remains functional! The headlights go up and down like new with all of its factory original vacuum lines and the vette still has all four of its original "power beam" headlamp bulbs! All of the glass is original including the windshield! We also replaced the taillight lenses and rear emblem with new reproductions. All of the factory original weatherstrip remains soft to the touch. The power antenna is also new.
INTERIOR
The completely original interior is beautifully preserved: there's not a rip, split, tear, hole or crack anywhere to be seen! The gauges' coloring remains vibrant and they still look great! Everything works from the horn, key warning buzzer, glove box compartment light and power door locks, to the power windows which still go up and down like new! The original stereo still works and we upgraded all four speakers but the factory tape deck still didn't sound so great as a new unit thus we discreetly installed a Bluetooth amp to automatically play music from any smartphone. The parking brake remains functional and of course the original jack and handle are in place beneath the rear compartment doors. We've also installed a new set of Lloyd's customCorvettefloor-matsto protect the nice original carpet which have also had new new reproduction door sill plates since at least one of these pictures were taken.
MECHANICALS
The motor compartment is sweet with the numbers matching optioned L-82 350 cubic inch motor mated to the factory four speed transmission shifting smoothly through all the gears. We had the original Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor restored with a show quality rebuild and all of the wiring and vacuum lines' colors remain vibrant as they've never been tampered with. You'll notice the car even has many/ most of its original factory clamps! We also installed four stainless steel sleeved brake calipers as well an upgraded four row aluminum radiator (so she doesn't get over 165 degrees.)
At the same time we installed a new water pump, new fan clutch and replaced all belts/ hoses: plus did a complete fluids change and tune-up (wires and plugs) as preventative maintenance. Similarly, we completely rebuilt the power steering system with a new ram, power steering control valve, pump and four new hoses. When we pulled the valve covers to have them polished, we also installed new air cleaner baffles and suspension mud flaps. You'll even notice theunder-hoodlight still works and the factory distributor cover remains in place! All four shocks are new. Of note: the A/C compressor still clicks but the system will need a recharge to blow cold.
