Description of 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Prostreet

You know we love these '60s Chevy C10 pickups here at Streetside, but this 1968 C10 step-side has everyone's attention. With a Pro-Street set-up, chopped top, and bright blue paint job, it's definitely got the look, and that powerful, nitrous-equipped 383 Stroker V8 under the hood gives it enough horsepower to make use of all that extra tire real estate. Take a closer look, this is one tough cookie. It looks like the builders took at least three... inches out of the roof of this C10 and boy does it make a difference! It goes from pedestrian and familiar, to sleek and muscular. Part of that is due to the trick-finished and closed-off bed out back, which fits so well and houses the wide tubs and big nitrous bottle that rest on a beautifully finished wood platform with paint-matched trim slats. Beyond that, the workmanship is very nicely done, with a seamless chop that sets the awesome profile and shaved door handles and badges that smooth out the whole truck. An aggressive cowl hood was fitted, the front bumper was incorporated into the bodywork and painted to match, and all of the glass was custom-made to account for the new cab dimensions. No wonky window frames, no crooked glass, no ill-fitting weather seals; it's almost as if the factory designed it that way. The high-impact blue paint is a big help in the eye appeal department and the quality of the work speaks for itself, because it really is as nice as it looks in photos. Sure, there might be one or two minor signs of age and use, but for the most part, this sucker looks ready to stop shows all over the country... The customization in the interior is the ideal complement to the blue bodywork, and like the exterior, delivers a modern twist on an old favorite. The bucket seat are modern units wrapped in white vinyl and they're contoured to make them very comfortable for long cruises. That elegant white upholstery is wrapped all around the inside of the cab, covering the custom door panels, the headliner, parts of the custom-built center console, and even the flooring. The original dash has been reworked, smoothed, detailed, painted, and looks nothing like the original spec unit, and is now filled with black-face Auto Meter gauges behind the steering wheel and a set of auxiliary units centralized on the dash inside a Bowtie panel. There's also a sporty Grant GT steering wheel on a tilt column, and the tricked-out center console houses a modern Pioneer head unit and the B&M shifter that controls the 3-speed automatic transmission below. Great rods show vision, and someone definitely had the right idea when they put this one together. If the already potent 383 cubic inch Stroker V8 under the hood isn't enough for you don't fret, but this one has been set-up to take nitrous that when activated will snap your head back into the seat and leave rubber streaks and wide contact patches on the asphalt with just a tap of the throttle. A painted intake and 4-barrel carburetor work with an upgraded camshaft to improve top-end breathing and the setup gives the truck a very burbled V8 idle. A few dress-up pieces look great in the fully painted and detailed blue engine bay, while the block itself is covered in black paint and has a heavy-duty oil pan underneath. The 4-wheel disc brakes and power steering are welcomed additions, the alternator was chromed, and long-tube headers dump into a potent dual exhaust system with turndowns before the rear axle. The TH400 4-speed automatic transmission snaps through the gears with genuine enthusiasm and there's a stout narrowed rear end hanging on a custom suspension that's painted blue for show (along with front A-arms, sway bars, driveshaft, etc.) for a true Pro-Street look underneath. Bright Cragar alloys finish the killer look and wear 26x7.50-15 front and 29x14.5-15 rear (slicks) Hoosier performance meats for added performance. Tricked-out to the nines with high-quality craftsmanship everywhere you look, this C10 Pro-Street is a dialed-in street brawler that' ready to take some pink slips and look great while it does it.
