1969 ECKLER HATCHBACK CORVETTE

1969 Big Block Wide Body Eckler Hatchback Corvette

Purchased new in Colorado Springs the owner had Eckler Corvettes create this beautiful one of a kind hatchback in beautiful blue with wide stripes.

Car was sold to the first owner 10/24/1969

Conversion was done in the mid 70's

Purchased by second owner in March of 1983 who drove it for several years.

Vehicle was disassembled in 1991 for restoration

The 427 Engine was sent to Sanford racing engines, rebuilt, then sealed waiting to be installed.

I purchased the corvette as a basket case in 2010

A rolling chassis with engine and transmission removed.

The engine appears to be original but when rebuilt the block was decked and stampings removed so don't know for sure.

I removed the body from the frame and sandblasted the chassis then painted it black.

Rebuilt the front end and replace calipers and pads, brake booster and master cylinder

Rebuilt the 3:53 posi rear end

Installed the rebuilt engine and Muncie 4 speed.

Used the headers that came with the car.

Installed a Magnaflo dual exhaust

Factory air car with updated compressor.

Alignment

Before the body work many photos were taken to make sure the repaint was redone as before.

Body was in excellent shape with no indications of ever being in a collision.

Painted base coat, then clear, color sanded then buffed out to its beautiful luster.

T tops

Interior is out of a mid 70's corvette.

Not sure why he did that but must have been the thing to do at the time.

Carpet is new

Power windows

Vette is very fast and drives like new!
