Description of 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

“A Rare and Original Time Capsule” A 1969 Chevy Camaro is rare. however. finding an original convertible is as improbable as winning the lottery. So consider this a winning ticket – a wonderfully maintained “original” ‘69 convertible – from its 307 cu. in. V8 – to its fiberglass-belted spare tire and metal wheel jack mounted in the truck. It is an absolute granny car with 41. 00 original miles. It’s been a whopping 46 years. or five generations since the ’69 Camaro first rolled off the line. however. like a vintage Port. the years have been especially kind to this gorgeous car. It features factory power steering. original steel painted wheels with dog dish hubcaps. original steering wheel with original dash and instrument gauges. Thankfully. the previous owner babied the car. and took care to note any improvement. replacement or restoration work. including the convertible top and well liner. armrest pads. carpeting and sill plates. All the fluids were changed and the wheel cylinders upgraded. All the lights and signals work. including the interior lights. key buzzer and horn. It starts. runs. sounds and drives like a ’69 307 should. It is a rust-free original car and with the factory Powerglide automatic. Nothing denotes its pedigree more than knowing the ’69 was the only serious competition to Ford’s Mustangs. In fact. popularity grew so rapidly that the ’69 Camaro convertible became the official Pace Car of the 1969 Indy 500. That is when muscle-car legend Don Yenko bought hundreds of Camaros and cornered the performance market. Surely. Yenko helped to create Camaro’s cult following. The first Camaro was code-named Panther internally at GM. and mostly by eager automotive journalists waiting for a first-look. The name Camaro apparently got some pushback by the corporate brass. Luckily. Camaro stuck. and the rest is history. Interestingly. the ’69 carried the mechanicals and drivetrain of the impressive Chevy Nova. However. it looked nothing like the ’68. with squared off body panels. All new sheet metal. except the hood and trunk lid. gave the ‘69 a substantially sportier feel and look. The grille was redesigned with a heavy "V" cant and deeply inset headlights. New door skins. rear quarter panels. and rear valance offered a much lower. wider. aggressive appearance. This styling would serve for the 1969 model year only. Decoded 1969 Camaro Convertible VIN12467N668954 1 – Chevrolet 2 – Camaro 4 – V8 67 – Convertible N – Norwood.
