Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1957

This is a 1957 Chevrolet, model 210, 2dr sedan. According to it's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) it was manufactured in Los Angles, CA during December 1956 or January 1957; this is an original California vehicle and has one piece front bumper. The VIN is B57L - 128880. According to production figures, there were total of 162,090 model 2102 produced from all plants. This vehicle was manufactured with a 6 cylinder and standard transmission. According to all information I have, vehicle was always licensed in either California or Arizona. I purchased this vehicle from estate of Rudy S. Vargas, Brawley, CA 92227; I've owned this vehicle for nine (9) years. I have a clear Arizona title in hand.
This is original steel no rust body with no fiberglass parts, ie., hood, trunk, doors. Outside appearance of vehicle is very close to original with exception of original style V-eight emblems added to hood and trunk. Front floors have been replaced with new panels, spare tire well has been removed and deleted to make all trunk space usable. Original heater has been deleted. Trunk key lock has been replaced with subtle delete which opens with an Alan Key. Bumpers have been modified to remove carriage bolts heads, welded from underside, and re-chromed to a smooth feature. Vehicle is painted with high quality polyurethane. All stainless parts are in good condition, with exception of a scratch on left rear tail light assembly. All rubber trim and felt has been replaced with high quality Steel Rubber Products. Interior is complete in black with red accent and new headliner and carpet. There are new retractable three (3) point harness/seat belts. All vehicle glass is new with quality rubber seals. Original gauges have been replaced in lieu of new Auto-Meter Gauges. A large recall tachometer takes place of original speedometer, and temperature and fuel take place of originals. Volt meter and oil pressure gauges to match other smaller gauges are mounted in original radio void. Dash was not cut to install any gauges. There is also a "Hobbs Meter" or hour meter that is mounted under hood that records engine hours of use. Raingear two (2) speed wipers were installed, along with new wiper arms and blades. In conversation with Randy Tritt Owner of Raingear Wipers.Com, he told me this wiper system is compatible with Vintage Air Conditioning installs.
CHASSIS is original and is in good condition, it is free of damage repairs with a few modern additions. All fourteen (14) body to chassis mounts have been renewed. Engine has been moved one (1) inch forward with use of Williams Classic Chassis Works (WCCW) engine/transmission mounts. These mounts incorporate engine side mounts, and transmission tail mount with driveshaft loop. Original "Ram Horn" mounts have been deleted. Original shock absorber mounted to top of trunk floor, were replaced by adding a WCCW Rear Shock Cross-member which supports frame and is upper support for rear shocks. All four (4) shocks have been renewed, front coil springs have been replaced with one (1) inch lowering springs. Front end components including: upper/lower A-arm bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends have been replaced. Front end alignment is complete. Steering is stock. Brakes are original style drum brakes that have been rebuilt with turned drums, new shoes, and hardware. Master cylinder has been changed to a "dual type" for safety. Wheels and tires are fourteen (14) inch. These wheels will accommodate front disc brakes according to Danchuk Mfg. They are: Danchuk #67-4534234, 14X5 OE. Original full wheel covers are in very good condition. Tires are: Coker Classic 205/75R/14 in good condition. Rear differential is 3.70 to 1gear, open, stock rear unit. Driveshaft size and u-joints are new and correct.
ENGINE is a 350 cubic inch "010" casting with correct cam center placement, that has been bored to .030 over. This engine has new pistons, and detailed rotating assembly, which was balanced by R.C. Whitcomb. Machine work was done by NAPA Machine Shop by experienced technicians. This is a high quality "pump gas " engine that has a compression near 9 to 1. Crank shaft was mirror polished and high quality rings and bearings were used. A Bracket Racer SFI Spec. 18.1 Crankshaft Damper was used. Cylinder heads are Racing Head Service #12042-01 specifications and valve size available on line. Aluminum intake manifold is Edelbrock Performer EPS, carburetor is Edelbrock 600 CFM Electric Choke #1403 with one (1) inch resin spacer. Distributor is Pertronics with 8.5 mm MSD wires. American Auto Wire supplied complete kit for 1957 Chevy. All lights, turn signals and horn work. This wiring also has dedicated circuits for Air Conditioning, Power windows, Power seats etc., for future modifications. Camshaft is Comp Cams Grind # CS XE268H-10. Full roller rocker arms and push rods are also Comp Cams parts. Headers are Pertronics long tube, coated type. Exhaust system is custom by Kevin Dale. It includes "H" style crossover, Flowmaster Super 44, 2 chamber mufflers, and complete tubing to exit polished tips. Transmission is a Muncie Aluminum four (4) speed with 2.56 first gear, known to be wide ratio. This transmission is great for street use; with this combination of trans and rear end, it is a pleasure to drive. This trans was built by Ernie Green, Phoenix, AZ Shifter is specific for bench seat, and was rebuilt at factory, works great.
