Description of 1960 Chevrolet Other

If you want a cruiser that looks like it could almost pass for a show-stopping magazine cover car and that's totally sorted and ready to cruise, this 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne just might be your huckleberry. Comprehensively upgraded from a bare-bones commuter car, it's now a fantastic restomod packing a thundering 454 V8 under the hood that's ready to take some names.
Finished not long ago, the build only has 9,269 miles on it, so it's still very fresh. Starting with a clean, original car was the key to getting such clean results and it really shows well today. Hailing from someplace friendly to vintage sheetmetal, it needed no major surgery to get back into shape. It was stripped bare, a few bumps and bruises were repaired, then it was covered in a few coats of sinister black paint, which is deep enough to easily get lost inside. It got a very thorough restoration, and they did go the extra mile to get those long quarter panels straight and smooth and to ensure that all the wonderful details of the 1960 Chevrolet design were crisp and sharp. Nicknamed the "Black Widow" the bottoms of the front fenders show some pinstriped arachnids that further shows this big Chevy was always purpose built. The wrap-around windshield is in excellent condition, and the sleek roof line makes it look fast just standing still. The Biscayne didn't have as much brightwork as the Impala, but don't worry, there's still plenty of bright trim, including delicate stainless outlining the tailfins and handsome chrome bumpers that tuck in tight to the bodywork. The crossed-flag emblems inside that cool front grille are a reminder that this car is packing some horsepower and those 'angry owl' style fins out back are definitely jet-age cool. There aren't many cars that can compete with this one on sheer eyeball appeal.
The interior is as well-finished as the bodywork, and just as extroverted. With a tweed split bench embossed with flames, access to the spacious back seat (also embossed with flames) is easy, and the door panels (you guessed it, they also have those killer flames) feature one of the coolest armrest designs we've ever seen, with bright chrome pieces for the window and door handles. How cool is that?!? The dash is color-matched to the exterior and features five individual gauge pods now filled with AutoMeter white-face gauges to relay information, along with a tachometer that was strapped to the steering column. And while it looks like this Bisquick was not originally equipped with a radio, an aftermarket Kenwood AM/FM/CD/AUX/Bluetooth stereo was tucked out of the way inside the glove compartment. Vintage A/C is always a welcome sight, and this system does indeed blow cold, with vents neatly installed underneath so as to not cut into the original dash. A tall Hurst shifter with a skull knob manages the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission below, which was definitely a modern performance choice rather than a cost factor for the builders, and that custom Billet steering wheel adds a lot of flash inside. Insulation was installed throughout the cabin to reduce heat and noise from the outside, and then a set of plush black carpets and a taut headliner were installed to neatly finish off the interior. Out back, the massive trunk is almost spotless, featuring a custom embossed pattern underneath the deck lid, custom finished panels that match the cabin, plush carpets, and a full-size spare tire with a matching chrome rim.
Under the hood, the original engine was dumped in favor of a big-block 454 cubic inch V8 with the usual performance upgrade goodies. Lots of detailed, polished, and chrome pieces give it a high-tech look, with shiny Chevrolet valve covers and a matching open-element air cleaner complete with '454' badging. With all those extra cubes, it makes enough horsepower to be entertaining but at the same time, it was designed to be a superior long-distance cruiser, so it can still be tamed. A polished Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor on a polished Edelbrock aluminum intake makes plenty of power and is easy to tune, and the big aluminum radiator up front keeps the big-block nice and cool. Power steering, power front disc brakes, a sturdy 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, and an upgraded suspension all help make this Chevy feel decades younger. And thanks to long-tube headers that feed into a Flowmaster dual exhaust, this Bisquick's soundtrack is fantastic. Staggered chrome wheels give it a slick, modern vibe and are fitted with 235/40/18 front and giant 275/35/20 rear performance radials that fill those big wheel wells perfectly.
Nicely finished and totally sorted, this very slick Biscayne more than delivers on the promises made by its killer look. Call today!
