Description of 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z |
This is your opportunity to own a custom 1987 IROC-Z Chevrolet Camaro Rally Car, great for rally or road racing, yet fully road-legal, with a powerful new engine and lots of other performance parts and upgrades! The freshly rebuilt 383 Stroker V8 was professionally installed and tuned by a local drag racing shop just a few months ago. It has a brand new Scat forged rotating assembly and Dart 200cc aluminum heads. It runs and sounds great! The new engine has less than 250 miles and is still on break-in oil. In about 250 miles, it will need the oil changed and a final tune on the carb. (Original mileage on the chassis is unknown.) The brand new professionally-installed custom 4" exhaust sounds fantastic! When you turn the key, you'll key, you'll know you're driving something special! The car is currently titled, registered, and insured in New Jersey. Other custom upgrades on this car include: TPIS custom grind camshaft.Canton 7qt. racing oil pan.Holley Ultra Double Pumper 750cfm carburetor.Edelbrock RPM airgap intake manifold.T56 6-speed manual transmission with MGW short throw shifter and Hurst pistol grip shift handle.Spohn tubular torque arm.High-performance mechanical fuel pump.Aluminum radiator.Doug's metallic ceramic coated long tube headers.Mufflex full 4-inch exhaust with high-flow cats.Full welded rally roll cage.Hydraulic handbrake.Wilwood remote proportioning valve.Sparco bucket seats with RaceQuip 5-point harnesses.Mini starter.Front and rear tow hooks.Rear Heim joint suspension.Stock IROC springs with 1 inch spacers.Stock 9 bolt rear with IROC-Z front calipers.Stock IROC front calipers. The heating and A/C have been removed to save weight. You have two options when it comes to the tires: The car currently sits on 16 inch IROC wheels with snow tires (the wheels in the pictures), but I can switch those out with a set of 15 inch Z/28 wheels with rally tires, if you would prefer. Both sets of tires are in good condition, as are the wheels. The car is obviously far from perfect, but it won't take much to get it track ready. It has very minimal rust, especially for a car this age. The speedometer and fuel gauge need to be adjusted. The vacuum gauge works, but has not been connected since the new engine was installed. All of the other gauges work perfectly. The brakes are too soft, even though a leak in the line has been repaired. The fix may be as simple as bleeding the hydraulic hand brake. The car will need to be trailered until you get the brakes taken care of. There is a crack in the front windshield. The hood, front bumper, and passenger side fender are a different color due to a low-speed fender bender. The damage was purely cosmetic (in fact, it doesn't even appear in the title search), and it has been completed repaired. It does give you the excuse to repaint the car whichever way you'd like... This car has so many valuable custom upgrades!! You will not find another car like this one! it is obviously not a show car, but it IS a powerful performance vehicle and especially a great car for the racing enthusiast. |
