And when a well-done pro-touring build adds modern ergonomics and world class performance. 'in demand' becomes 'irresistible'. A mere three weeks ago we sold this LS3-powered stunner for $145K. And in December of last year. we sold this LS3-powered curve-carver for $170K. That duo is merely the latest in a string of custom C2s which have left our RK Motors Charlotte showroom almost as fast as they arrived. And if you're one of the many folks who waited just a little too long to pull the trigger. here's a rare chance at redemption. Wrapping a hot LS3 in a custom chassis and swaths of stitched leather. this magazine-featured land rocket puts a white-glove twist on blue-collar dynamics. And best of all. you can have all that comfort and performance without sacrificing any old school style!Originally a numbers-matching survivor. this stunning Sting Ray was mothballed in a collector's garage for right around 30 years. In 2008. with Hurricane Ike threatening havoc on coastal Texas. the car was transported miles inland and eventually sold to a guy named Bill Bouziden. Bouziden was a long-time car enthusiast who. in preceding years. had gravitated toward Chevrolet's world-beating C6. But. despite his new Z06's amazing performance. he felt that most of his gearhead friends doubted his wrench-turning credentials. With that in mind. he transported his new split-window coupe to Hot Rod Joe's Rods & Customs in Lafayette. Louisiana and began combining vintage Corvette style with modern Corvette performance. As you can tell from our high resolution photos. the car's body is razor-straight. no doubt requiring minimal work to present better-than-new aesthetics. Once that body was stripped and sufficiently prepped. glossy Cyber Gray Metallic base was sealed in clear. carefully wet-sanded and buffed to a brilliant shine. And today. the "Z63" rolls as one spectacular classic with no filler. no questionable seams. no bulges. and nothing else that would demerit its excellent restoration. The second generation of America's favorite sports car debuted a much more assertive demeanor thanks to GM's renewed dedication to motorsports. And that newfound aggression is especially prevalent in this coupe's edgy detailing. The car opens with a shaved clip that centers a custom grille and Harley-Davidson-sourced marker lamps beneath a custom. satin-finished header emblem. Above that grille. a smooth hood leads the eye to Satin Black trim which. along with Satin Black windshield wipers. highlights lightly tinted glass. At the sides of that hood. a monochromatic profile hangs custom "Z63" emblems between small GM badges. Satin Black rocker guards and shaved doors that feature satin-finished bowtie mirrors. And at the back of that profile. a custom cross-flag fuel cap rides above custom taillights. a second shaved bumper and a satin-finished "Corvette Sting Ray" script. Gaze upon this Chevy's Cyber Gray engine bay and you'll find 6. 2 liters of small block fury! Officially known as General Motors' Generation IV LS3. that smooth crate engine twists a respectable 430 horsepower into 424 lb. /ft. of everyday torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering. low-end performance. it revs to 6. 00 RPM and regularly achieves 24 MPG! Up top. a long air tube and GM's familiar intake have been augmented with a smooth layer of Satin Black single-stage. For the sake of reliability. the engine's GM-tested internals are completely stock. Above that proven hardware. high performance aluminum heads employ custom. Satin Black valve covers. There's a beefy aluminum radiator that's fitted with a giant electric puller fan. 8. 45mm MSD Super Conductor plug wires combine with a Wilwood master cylinder and an aluminum overflow tank to detail otherwise purpose-built performance. That performance rides between a fully-finished hood and an LS3-engineered frame. And one twist of the key zings the powerplant to life. pulsing rhythmic notes through racy Street & Performance headers. Park this Vette on a lift and you'll find a custom Street Shop chassis that's been bolted to clean floor tubs and bathed in. you guessed it. more subdued Satin Black pigment. Behind the stout small block. a 4L70E 4-speed automatic twists torque to a tough limited-slip differential and willing 3. 73 gears. That first class drivetrain rolls on a fourth generation Corvette independent suspension that's been fitted with proven QA1 coil-over-shocks. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering. Power-assisted stops are provided by a combination of 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Wilwood 6-piston calipers. 11-inch drilled and slotted rotors and factory GM calipers. Exhaust rolls from the previously mentioned headers to heat-wrapped pipes. an X-shaped crossover. transverse Magnaflow mufflers and center-mount tips. Power flows through custom Intro wheels. which spin 225/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 275/35ZR19 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. And everything from this Chevy's brake lines to its fuel filter is built solid. professionally finished and ready for action. Pop the lightweight doors and you'll find a black leather interior that continues the car's theme of swapping generic chrome for machine-finished detailing. Front and center. a pair of fixed Pontiac G8 buckets feels both comfortable and supportive. In front of those seats. a leather-wrapped. dual-cowl dash hangs Vintage Air climate control below a GPS-enhanced Kenwood sound system and Dakota Digital gauges. At the sides of that dash. custom door panels center stylish billet vent window cranks above sculpted armrests and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels. clean carpet features stain-free shading thanks to color-keyed floor mats. At the center of that carpet. a custom. leather-wrapped console frames a beefy shifter behind billet window switches. In front of the driver. a satin-finished steering wheel spins a half-wrapped rim around a tilting column and trick pushbutton start. And behind the passengers. a custom upholstered storage compartment displays virtually no signs of use.
