Description of 1962 Chevrolet C-10 C10 SWB

1962 Chevrolet SWB C 10 One Family Owned since new with the 236 6 CYL. & 3 on the tree offered by Gas Monkey Garage with . ! The 1960 model year introduced a new body style of light pick-up truck that featured many firsts. Most important of these were a drop-center ladder frame allowing the cab to sit lower and independent front suspension giving an almost car-like ride in a truck. Also new for 1960 was a new designation system for trucks made by GM. Gone was the 3100 3200 and 3600 designations for short 1/2 long 1/2 and 3/4-ton models. Instead a new scheme would assign a 10 20 or 30 for 1/2 3/4 and 1-ton models. Since 1957 trucks were available from the factory as 4-wheel drive and the new class scheme would make this known. A C (Conventional) in front of the series number would indicate 2-wheel rear drive while a K would denote 4-wheel drive. The cab roof used double walled steel construction unlike the other automakers who used a single steel roof. Starting In 1960 C/K trucks were available in smooth "Fleetside" or fendered "Stepside" versions. GMC called these "Wideside" and "Fenderside" and used torsion bar front suspension with trailing arm suspension rear. Trim lines were base and "Custom." The curved windshield designated the 1960-1963 trucks Chevy restyled the 1964 truck to accommodate a flat windshield making the early trucks more desirable! When I got a call from the previous owner who was the grandson of the original owner he was trying to trade it in but wasn’t happy with the numbers he was getting so I said bring it by I’ll take a look! So he drove it over I looked it over and we made a deal on it. Now a 1962 Chevy SWB C10 with the cool curved windshield is a truck I always look for to have one that runs and drives delivered to my front door is always exciting! This truck has a pretty solid body with evidence of some body work before being re-sprayed at some point years ago. The floors look solid as does the cab but there is a weird patch on the top of the roof (see all pics) and sheet metal covering the wood floor and sides of the bed. The drivers door check strap has broken and the door has opened into the fender causing a crease (looks like it has done this before as there is body filler present in the damage?). The interior appears to be mostly complete with an aftermarket speedometer installed in the dash a period correct accessory fan mounted on the dash that works and a seat cover over the original seat. A little TLC would go a long way towards improving the interior! The engine seems to run well but it is leaking oil (the previous owner drove it here!) and will need to be completely serviced prior to driving for any extended period to insure safety and reliability due to unknown service history! (Due to our filming schedule we are unable to perform any additional work on this truck SOLD AS IS/WHERE IS!) Also includedis a partially disassembled V8 of unknown condition. This rare 1962 Chevrolet C10 SWB Fleetside is located in Dallas Texas and the winning bidder may have the option of taking delivery here at the shop or we'll help with shipping logistics.
