Description of 1981 Chrysler Imperial

Light Auburn Crystal Coat Metallic (one of only 429!). According to previous owner, car was stored in an enclosed facility, but the hood and fenders were not covered…So they are not as shiny as the rest of the car. I read somewhere that only two colors in 1981 had a clear-coat applied, and this was one of them. It appears the clear coat has clouded (very common in the ‘80s). I compounded a section, and it looks better. There are a few dings on the passenger door, but no rust, and the car is very presentable. The main reason I bought this car is the fuel injection system is still intact and works perfectly. I have some extra fuel injection components that will be included with the sale… …shows 37670 miles, and based on the overall condition, appears to be original. Actual mileage is slightly higher, I'm taking her to local car shows this weekend!

If you know these cars, they were quirky, and although Chrysler gave them special attention, a lot of things didn’t last long…For example, the passenger window works fine, but is noisy…Moon roof (only available in 1981) operates slowly, so I didn’t force it. Passenger side wiper and power antenna don’t work… All electronic dash functions and search tune stereo work except for the fuel gauge. I changed all the dash cluster bulbs to LED and it lights up beautifully. Seats, dash and carpets are excellent. The exhaust tailpipe is missing from the muffler back, but the muffler is fine. Other than that, it’s a handsome car, that gets a lot of attention.
