Description of 1965 Chrysler Newport

1965 was a innovative design year for Chrysler. especially for the Newport which exuded a 1960's style more than any of their other models. Now with the recessed front stainless/chrome grill. and quad headlamps. recessed rear body contour. nbsp;ensconcing the rear tail lamp assemblies. and bold side body contours. this Chrysler 2 Door Hardtop Newport is a wonderful. 48. 31 mile. surviving example of this design. Beautifully refinished at a cost of over $6K in its original Peacock Turquoise two stage finish. it is virtually a rust free car. (some surface rust appears normally on the undercarriage) with no accident history and excellent stainless and chrome. all of which were removed for refinishing. The body shop receipts will come with the car. outlining the step by step procedure inclusive of complete removal of the original paint and preparation prior to refinishing. The Newport's complete interior is very much original with the exception of the re-upholstering of the front seat bench center panel to achieve an almost perfect match. and is in excellent condition. Carpeting. and the dash pad appear almost new. All the Newport's glass is in excellent condition as are the glass felt channels and weatherstrips. The windows operate easily with no issues. Power is provided by a pre-emissions. 5 main bearing. 383 cubic inch (6. 3 Liter) 270 h/p V8 with a significant amount of torque. (390@2800 rpm) coupled to a Torqueflite 727 automatic transmission. and finalized by a 3. 23 ratio differential. Compression is 9. 2:1. Carburation is a dual downdraft Stromberg. The engine starts immediately. and runs wonderfully with no unusual noises or smoke. Shifting is smooth and almost seamless. The Newport is surprising quick. given its weight of just over 4K pounds. The Newport's previous owner. having owned and coveted the car for many years. rebuilt the front suspension. added custom dual exhaust with Flo-Master mufflers. and replaced the rear leaf springs. The Newport is also equipped with Power Steering and Power Brakes. which are more fitting to stop a train. Lights . heater. and controls all work well with no issues. An aftermarket FM stereo radio/equalizer with some interesting speakers (top right and left of dash in pictures) has been installed. given the original AM radio is inoperative. however does emit some peculiar sounds. (message from space. ?) Wheels and tires are factory 14 inch and the radial tires are in above average condition. however. you may wish to consider whitewalls or a custom wheel and tire set. The Newport "tracks" nicely when driven with no apparent alignment issues. Recent servicing includes oil and filter replacement with Valvoline semi synthetic 10/30 oil. new air filter. brake and wheel bearing inspection. and coolant flush. Its body as been waxed with Zymol Premium wax. The paint finish is probably a 9 out of 10. 10 being concourse. In conclusion. the Chrysler Newport 2 Door Hardtop will be sold as is. where is. with no warranty expressed or implied. I encourage personal inspection prior to auction end. and will not allow it following auction end as a condition of sale.
