| 1947 Chrysler Crown Imperial C40 Formal Limousine VIN: 7810481Engine: Crate 350 Chevrolet V-8Transmission: 400 Turbo AutomaticColor: Chrysler 4315 Military BlueWheelbase: 145. 5" (measured center of wheel to center of wheel) Only 750 Crown Imperial Formal Limousines were built from 1946 through 1948 at a base price of $4. 05 weighing in at 4. 75 pounds. Very few remain and even fewer are in this condition. The stock Chrysler Crown Imperial C40 Formal Limousine is a recognized a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America. It is considered by many to be the grandest limousine of the post-World War II era. A Chrysler Crown Imperial Limousine chauffeured Elizabeth Taylor and Nicky Hilton on their wedding day in 1950. Could this be the one? It was an exceptionally nice original Imperial before restoration for private luxury use and the occasional weddings. Its Classic appearance has been maintained while the mechanics have been updated for present day driving comfort. including a factory new crate delivered “Mr. Goodwrench” 350 Chevrolet V-8 engine in 2006. automatic transmission. power assisted steering. dual air conditioning. stereo system. nbsp;hydraulic division window. etc. This regal lady has only logged about 5. 00 miles since restoration. The odometer shows approximately 32. 00 miles (just over 400 miles per year since new) and judging from the condition of the undercarriage and overall condition it appears to be the original mileage. The wheel wells. floorboards. engine bay. trunk. and undercarriage are clean with no rust apparent in these areas except a dime sized spot on the lower edge of one door. It appears this Imperial was always garaged. The chrome and stainless steel trim. nbsp;hubcaps and beauty rings are original and exceptional. Rubber door and other seals were replaced during restoration along with radial whitewall tires. carpet. headliner and upholstery. Folding “opera” or “jump” seats are a special feature of the Crown Imperial Limousine. New gauges have been installed below the center of the dash. the original speedometer and odometer work as well and the added gauges are simply for back up. The hydraulic operated division window operates smoothly. Dual air conditioning (needs recharging) and heat can be controlled in both front and rear. AM/FM Stereo CD player with front and rear stereo speakers. The vacuum operated windshield wipers were converted to the more efficient electrical type. The Imperial gets “thumbs up” wherever she goes. When occasionally valet parked at restaurants or events. she is always placed ahead of new Rolls Royce. Ferraris. etc. Starts easily and drives smoothly at highway speeds. The interior wood and trim is in original unrestored condition. The paint is Chrysler Military Blue and has a minor few minor scratches. no dents or dings excepting a dime sized surface rust spot on the bottom of one passenger door.
