Through the following photos and descriptions (there are many as there is nothing to hide here), 'll attempt to show what a well cared for vehicle this 1960 Citroen 2CV is.  Please view all the photos and read the descriptions ... then decide for yourself if this the vehicle for you.

Interspersed with my photos of this 1960 2CV are several period ads & photos for added flavor.

Video:  Chris Harris - 'Why I love my 2CV'

This Citroen 2CV is as fine an example as one could ever expect to find for an un-restored, n-molested specimen of the breed.
A true 'survivor' in every sense of the word.  Survivors of this sort are very hard to come by, ndeed.

With only two conscientious owners throughout its 55 years of life it has been very well cared for.  Garage kept, and it shows in so many ways.

Citroen 2CVs are iconic cars and are quite distinctive from any angle.

'Treefrog' is the affectionate name given by its owners. Green, ug-eyed and very French.

The paint is original with minor touchups throughout the years.
A little 'dusty' with age but with a acquired patina it wears like a badge of honor.

Plenty of room for four adults and a ride that's surpassingly comfortable.

The 'Art Deco' styling is a fashion statement any francophile will recognize.

Built for comfort, ot speed, itroen 2CVs are a shear pleasure to drive.  Quirky but quite good fun.

The corrugated - 'rippled' - hood with a design element to add strength without added weight.

A cute period ad attesting to some of the many noble qualities of these iconic cars.

The interior is as nice as the exterior ... unmolested and correct down to the finest detail.

The following photos will help show some of the many fine points.

Looking through the open top one first notices the Art Deco steering wheel ...

... and the shear simplicity of the layout.

A period promotional photo showing the dashboard and its overall simplicity.

Starter knob (D) and choke (S) flanking a volt/charging meter - with 4-speed shift pattern below.

Another view of the dash, arcel shelf and just in case fire extinguisher.

The seat material is green and white striped cotton canvass and is suspended by rubber bands for added ride comfort.

A better view of the handy parcel shelf and the through dash shift lever.

The seats are surpassingly comfortable and are in great condition considering their 55 years of age.
Period and correct seats are available from several sources should you ever decide to replace them.

A factory promotional photo from a slightly earlier model.

The dash has flow-through ventilation opened by a rotating knob.

Again, he seating is in good original condition and quite comfortable.

The tubular frames retain their original cream paint and are strong yet light.

A 1950's ad showing how the seats can be easily removed and used for side-of-the-road  picnicking.

An early photograph showing dad taking a smoke break.

Everything under the hood is as neat and tidy as it should be.
This photo does well to show the shaft mounted cooling fan of the 2-cylinder air cooled engine.

Again, ll original - just like you'd like to find it.

Another view of the engine bay.  Simple and unobstructed ... makes routine maintenance simple.

The engine starts quickly and runs smoothly.  The simplicity of design makes it near bulletproof.

Engine ... 2-cylinder opposed 'boxer style' - 425 cc - 12 hp.

Front to back:  Ignition coil, Solex' carburetor over intake manifold, tarter motor over flywheel, -speed transmission flanked by felt covered heater ducts and inboard style front brake drums.

Three factory promotional views of the simple motor design

Original factory model designations stenciled on the bulkhead firewall.

Build plated at the rear of the engine showing the following:
VIN # - 8422965
Type - XZ
Series:  2CH
Empty weight:  825 kg.
Built in the Paris factory with serial # 0002 164800

Those more knowledgeable than myself will be able to read more into these body and build designations.

Ooh la la ...

A look in to the trunk ...

Quite spacious and able to accompany more luggage than you might think ... remove the rear seat for additional space.

Spare rim with original 'Michelin' tire mounted.

One of the only signs of rust on this well cared for 2CV - a light surface dusting in the trunk well.
Still solid as a rock.

A cutaway sketch showing various components.

This reminds me of an Andy Warhol poster ... the iconic Citroën 2CV.

The following shows various view of the cloth top and its many configurations.

Recently purchased on a spring trip to France is a 'new-in-the-box ... must weigh 25 lbs. -  replacement top.
The original top is still mounted and has gorilla tape - the white stripes - covering small tears along the outer edges.
The new top is to correct this defect.

Have yet to mount it as it's never been a pressing problem as it's almost always garage kept and has only been in the rain a couple of times in its entire life.
Simple to install - instructions included.

A slightly earlier model on the banks of the Seine river ... but who's looking at the car?

Another Parisian glamour shot.

The following: A group of photos of the fine points and various details ...

Last French auto test - front window decal.

Window mounted insurance compliance certificate.

A famous French advertisement showing the carrying capacity of a Citroen 2CV.
Quite impressive, ctually.

More details - front air vent, lip-up side windows, eadlights, tc.

One of France's most recognizable landmarks, ont Saint-Michel and its bay ...

The 3-lug wheels are a distinctive feature of the 2CVs.

The tires are:
'Uniroyal' 135-SR15 radials - front - 95% tread remaining
 'Toyo' - 1350SR15 radials - rear - 90% tread remaining.

The following two photos show the front wheels wells ...

Driver's side rear wheel ...

The right rear brake light lens is a replacement ... the left one original.

Period Art Deco style ad.

Fun in the sun ...

Some interior details ... all in unusually well cared for condition.

Speedometer with power-take-off for the windshield wipers.

Door cars are all in fine original condition.

An example of one of the four door latches.

Just a beautifully composed photo of a 2CV.

The following four photos show the floors with the seats removed.
Under each original rubber mats if a virtually rust free floor pan.

A factory illustration showing the chassis configuration.

Actual photo of the same.

And, ome more general exterior body shots to wrap up this presentation.
I find it always helps to see photos in a different light.  Hope you do as well ...

This 1960 Citroen 2CV is not perfect in every way.  "Perfect will set you back a bit more than the quite reasonable reserve price here.  It's as fine an example of the model that one could ever expect for a 55 year old un-restored vehicle.  There are imperfections as one would well expect ... most, ery minor indeed.  Some very slight paint chips and a few minor scratches that can't possible be shown in photos like these.  It's not new but it's very nice, ndeed.
