Description of 1972 Citroën Pallas

You are bidding on a 1972 model year (manufactured 11/1971) Citroen DS 21 Pallas. Serial number is 4659398. My understanding is that this is a Jubilee special-edition car. It has a 4-speed Citromatic (automatic clutch manual) transmission and leather interior. The car runs and drives but needs to be tuned - it should be considered a project car. Specifically, I installed a professionally rebuilt carburetor that still needs to be adjusted. Odometer shows 38,024 miles, but total mileage is unknown.

The vehicle has undergone some restoration by the previous owner and myself, but needs some additional work to be completed. I purchased this vehicle with the intent of completing the restoration, but I work full time and I am in graduate school and I don't really have time to work on the car.

This is an LHM (green-fluid) vehicle, and the engine starts and runs strong. The car shifts, hydraulics work, brakes work, but it needs some electrical sorting (e.g. running lights are disconnected, horn, heater fan, etc.), and other light restoration such as a few new lenses, Pallas exterior trim, and a dashboard refresh (a good used glove box door is included). The tires appear new, but I'm not sure how old they are. Spheres are dated 7/14 suggesting they are newer. My understanding is that the car was garaged for many years undergoing restoration before I purchased the vehicle from a dealer in Los Angeles. The car has always been garaged under my ownership.

The body is in great condition, with the exception of the trunk lid which needs to be repaired or replaced. There are some minor dings and scrapes as shown in the photos, but the car is very presentable as is. This is an exceptionally rust-free car making an ideal restoration candidate, see photos of the rockers, floor pans, etc. I don't believe the maroon color is the original color. Glass is in great condition.

I had a new black leather seat and door card set professionally installed - it is fabulous. The upholstery and door cards were sourced from Citro-Classique - Citro Toon in the Netherlands at great expense. New foam was installed in both front seats - they are like new. I added upgraded front seatbelts, and upgraded rear seatbelts are included in the sale (not yet installed). The window rollers need to be installed (I have 3 of the 4).

Under the hood, I replaced the water pump and inner hose, spark plugs, fuel pump, replaced all the fluids, installed rebuilt carb and starter. I adjusted the valves and re-torqued the head to factory spec. The engine starts up well but stumbles and dies when I push in the choke - I have not had the time to properly adjust the carburetor (which was sourced from Chris Dubuque). Also, the ignition occasionally cuts out. Compression is pretty good at #1 = 140, #2 = 150, #3 = 150, #4 = 125. Heater is disconnected, I've not tried connecting it.

The vehicle title is from California, and is signed-off by the previous owner (a dealership). Said another way, the vehicle title is not in my name, but I have an open, signed title from the previous owner.

I don't have any historical records for the car, but have a stack of receipts for parts and service done since I got the car in June 2018. The car comes with a big box of parts.

Vehicle is located at my house in Lake Oswego, Oregon 97034, around 10 miles south of Portland, Oregon. I can help get the car onto a trailer.

This is a great opportunity to pick up a solid DS Pallas for a fraction of what they are currently fetching - the reserve is modest and much less than I have invested in the car, for what it's worth. A non-refundable deposit is required within 48-hours, and full payment expected within 10 days by wire transfer or other negotiated arrangement. Car needs to be gone within 4 weeks of the end of the auction, but I will store it in my garage until it is shipped.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need specific additional photos. I am not an expert on the DS, but will try my best to answer. Thank you for your interest.
