Description of 1983 Datsun Other

1983 Datsun Nissan 810 Maxima Wagon. Double Unicorn L28ET Turbo.

OK boys and girls, I've decided to put my '83 Nissan/Datsun 810 Maxima wagon up for sale. I'm sure a few of you out there are familiar with this car, as it's made the rounds on the interweb. I'm going to spare you all the details about how the car came about, as all the info is out there on the web. A few Google searches will net some very good information on it. It's been on Bring a trailer, Z-Therapy, Blue Oval Ranch websites, and I have a Facebook page documenting my ownership of it, search Boosted 810 on Facebook.

Here's the basics on the car:

1983 Datsun 810/Nissan Maxima wagon. Totally rust free west coast car. No accidents, beautiful straight body. L28ET engine installed by a previous owner. 4 speed automatic transmission. Everything works on the car as it should. Power windows, power central locking, power sunroof, power brakes, cold A/C, Cruise control.... This car drives superbly. No steering play, super tight front end, lowered but not overly stiff ride. Drive it anywhere. Wheels are Prime 16x7 with matching 205/50/16 Kumho Ecsta tires.

Since owning the car I have done a lot of work to it to make it the car everything the builder and previous seller claimed the car to be, but it wasn't at the time.... It is now though! Check out Boosted 810 on Facebook for pics and details. Here's the short list of what I've done to it: New radiator, new 1 piece driveshaft, new intake/exhaust manifold gasket, new valve cover gasket, new carpet, new seats, new steering wheel, new fuel lines, new cold start injector, new front brake rotors, calipers and pads, starter, ignition switch, full service... This car now drives as it should, beautiful and straight, no shakes no shimmies, smooth effortless power, nice positive shifts, brakes are excellent and firm.

The car is running 7lbs of boost, which is wastegate pressure. What I've learned about it since owning the car, is this is just about as much boost as you'd dare to run on it. Why? Well, here's the deal.. It's running an NA 280ZX ECU with the original Maxima air meter and engine wiring harness. To compensate for boost, the ignition timing is set to a fixed -21 degrees. It's making about 180hp as is, which makes it a very capable cruiser. The L28ET engine was rebuilt by a previous owner before being installed in the car. It runs beautifully, no knocks, no ticks, no smoke. It boosts up great. It is exhausting through a single 2.5" exhaust from the turbo back, through a single Flowmaster muffler. Spool up is quick and power comes on smoothly, and it has a very deep and mellow but powerful sound. The L28ET engine installation is super clean using all factory parts, no cheesy connections, or crumby adapters anywhere. This car is Uber reliable I don't hesitate to drive it anywhere, with the A/C on and the cruise set!

The body on it is super straight. It has original paint on it everywhere, apart from the drivers door and front fender. The front valance has 33 years of rock chips. It looks great though as is, if someone wanted to repaint it, it wouldn't take much because the body is straight and rust free.

I am a Japanese car restorer/collector, so I know my stuff. If you have any intelligent questions about the car, please ask. I think I'm asking a very fair amount for the car considering it truly is a "Double Unicorn". A very clean and totally rust free 810 wagon is a rare thing, and then with it's L28ET swap as well sorted as this, makes it a one of a kind. I am selling this car to make room for something else. Car is located in Cookeville TN. Clean/clear TN title. I can meet a buyer at Nashville airport if flying in to collect it. If shipping is required, it is entirely the buyers responsibility. $250 non-refundable deposit due immediately after listing ends.
