Description of 1979 Datsun Z-Series ZX-R

Datsun Z-Series . Condition is Used. I had the intention of restoring this car and put a goldish paint on it until I could do so. It has been sitting under my carport for 2 years now and I don't think I'm going to get around to it. It does run and I used it as a daily driver until winter. It is currently in Washington state. It is an old car. Of course it has issues but the rust is minimal on the normal spots. It is solid. It could use of course new rubber bushings and brakes. The normal stuff. The wing is in excellent condition. I usually keep it coated to protect it.The pictures are of its current unwashed and prepped condition. I do have all the interior parts, I just took them out to start renovations. The dash has NO cracking.

In 1979 the first year of the 280ZX, Datsun released a special Limited edition 280ZX-R model. This Package consited of silver mist metallic paint with a 3-tone blue vinyl striping and a Rubber rear deck spoiler. This package added $399 to the base cost of the 280ZX. There was 1008 280ZX-R's built. There were no options available other than A/C with the ZX-R package and that added a cost of $635 to the price. Otherwise the cars were stripped, meaning no power optinons such as; Power windows, power locks, Manual steering, 5-speed manual transmission, Rear wiper and noise reduction materials Deleted and an all black interior was fitted.

The DATSUN 280 ZX-R's were produced by NISSAN Motors to homologate the large rear wing for SCCA Competition. At least 1000 units had to be produced to meet the qualification requirements for "Production Class" status. Thus only 1009 were produced and offered to the public "For Sale", through the DATSUN Dealers.

The ZXR was a standard 280ZX coupe with special deacal package on a Silver Mist Metallic paint scheme. The factory registered special edition cost the new owner $399.00 extra.

A 280ZXR WING KIT - Was also offered by Nissan Motorsports via the DATSUN Competition Parts Catalog.

Here is what the listing said: Wing is made of molded rubber and is identical to the one used on SCCA and IMSA winning 280ZX's. Will generate over 370 lbs. of downforce at 100 MPH. To counteract front end lift, an air dam should also be installed. Instructions, H/D deck lid struts and all mounting hardware included. Will NOT fit 2+2's and requires modification to clear rear wiper.
