For sale is an absolutely pristine, one owner, 2,042 actual original mile 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. Thiscar was sold new at Pasadena Datsun of Pasadena, CA on 1/21/1983 with 115 miles (per the original service contract). The car spent the following 5 years in California before the original owners moved to Lewiston, ID in 1988. The car had essentially sat since being moved to Idaho in 1988 and was later put in long term storage circa 1992 in Sequim, WA. The car ended up staying in storage far longer than was planned as a divorce complicated the situation of the car. The car remained in enclosed storage until early 2019 when the car was relocated to Clarkston, WA. In asking the original owner why she and her previous husband had barely driven the car, she stated that it was a fun car that her husband truly purchased out of impulse, however the impracticality of the car kept them from driving it more than just the occasional weekend outing to dinner, etc.

Since this car resurfaced from storage many mechanical items have been addressed in order to restore the drivability of the car. The following items have all been replaced within approximately the last 100 miles: all 9 stainless fuel lines along with copper washers, fuel pump/sender module (DMC part #10700), fuel filter, fuel accumulator, spark plugs, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, stainless clutch fluid supply line, rear brake lines, alternator, battery and driver's side window regulator/motor. The car has had a full brake fluid flush along with a coolant flush and engine oil change. The A/C system was also serviced and a new receiver/dryer was installed and converted to R-134a refrigerant. New DMC parts were used for all of the DeLorean specific items and invoices are included. The original Goodyear NCT tires still remain on the car with like-new tread. All four tires hold air and are not excessively cracked, however they are 40 years old.

The interior of this DeLorean is truly incredible and shows as new aside from a few minor details. The gray leather seats are still very supple and are free of any separations in all of the seams. The carpets are beautiful without the slightest stain and show zero wear. There is not one item in the interior that has become faded from the sun. The dash is perfect aside from a very small crack near the glovebox door. The crack was caused from the glovebox door being pushed open too far and is common on many of these DeLoreans. All of the gauges are functional including the digital clock. The passenger side A-pillar trim has a small area of vinyl that has come loose, but is only visible when examining it from the outside of the car looking through the windshield. The stationary part of the headliner material between the gull wing doors has come loose. Detailed photos of these imperfections can be found below the item description. The interior of this car truly appears to have been frozen in time.

The exterior of this DeLorean is incredibly straight and beautiful. The brushed stainless steel body shows very well and is free of any previous body work or refinishing. The panel alignment is excellent and all of the gas-filled struts have been replaced. The body does have a few fine surface scratches here and there which go against the grain of the brushed stainless look, however it still looks fantastic. The bumpers are in excellent shape and are still finished in the original paint. The paint does have a few pimples here and there, but the bumpers are completely free of any damage, cracking, etc. The weatherstripping and all plastic items are in excellent condition without any cracking or fading.

This DeLorean runs and drives very well. The engine idles smoothly and has respectable power. The transmission shifts as it should without any grinding or gear pop-outs. The clutch engages smoothly as well. I have only driven this car approximately 10 miles as I did not want to add unnecessary miles to the car, but it performed well on my short drive. This DeLorean is truly a time capsule in every sense of the phrase.

Documentation included with the sale of this car includes the original service contract from new, which verifies the original sale date and mileage, the original California registration card issued in 1983, several other registration cards from over the years, receipts for services performed on the car in July of 1991 including an A/C charge and fuel distributor cleaning, an invoice for the 2019 service along with many receipts from DMC for parts. A DMC owner's manual, DMC technical information manual and the original Goodyear tire pamphlet are all included as well. 2 sets of original keys remain with the car.
