Description of 1968 Dodge Charger

For auction on eBay is a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. This is a factory R/T XS29L8B car. This Charger R/T has a 440 engine, speed transmission with a 4.10 Dana 60 rear end. It looks very sinister and is what I had always envisioned a Charger R/T to look like. This is a fresh restoration with only about 20 miles to date on the vehicle. Completed in the last 2 weeks so everything is clean and ready to go. The car has an extensive list of parts that are new. I will post a TON of information along with plenty of pictures to show exactly what has been done to the vehicle. Every aspect of the car has had some attention. Please read it all and go through all the pictures, s this isn't your average car for sale on eBay. What separates this car from other Charger R/T for sale is its rarity and also the amount of time and effort that has went into this car. I will show lots of pictures of the car done and while undergoing some of the restoration. Also, he underneath of this car has had a lot of attention put into it as well. Most cars you will find the underneath has been completely neglected.I will go through each section of the car to give you the most accurate description of what has been done. This way you will know exactly what has been done, nd I will provide enough pictures to back up what has been described. Please ask any and all questions, 'm happy to answer them. I know even with as much info is on this ad, hat I have forgot to mention a lot of parts that has been replaced. Why over spend on a car that may only be half completed with a quick paint job and some interior work? Here's the best part! Its on a NO reserve! Body- The exterior of the car has mostly new parts. It has new wheel lip moldings, atte Black stripe, mblems, indshield, nbsp;door locks, entastar emblem on Right fender, nd hood depression decals. Car does not have any rust. Car was completely disassembled and stripped down before paint. This includes all suspension and rear end along with glass.
Paint- Paint is BLACK! . The paint is PPG Basecoat / Clear coat, nd was color sanded and buffed. Has a beautiful wet look to the paint. The car is very straight and the body lines are sharp. The paint is in excellent shape and is fresh, ith only 20 miles on everything. The car has only 1 repaint on the car. It was originally QQ1 Blue. All of the jams, ncluding trunk and engine bay were also painted to match the outside of the car. Paint looks amazing!
Wheels- Has brand new tires with stock steel wheels and dog dish hub caps. The Steel wheels were put on to give it a factory look and also keeping to the blacked out theme.
Interior- Interior has all seat covers and door panels. Also has new carpet, ash pad, eadliner, ackage tray and trunk mat. The interior was completely stripped out including the dash before paint. . Has the original AM radio installed. No speakers were installed so the new owner can put whatever radio suits them or add speakers and run the AM radio. As of now there is also no antenna on the car.
Underside- This is a factory full body undercoat car ( I have pictures before being resprayed). The underside was professionally undercoated after paint with everything removed from car (unibody car so no such thing as a frame off). The underside was completely resprayed and duplicated how it was done originally. The underside is as clean as it gets. Not a spec of rust or dirt. I would say you could eat off the bottom of this car, ut thats pretty ridiculous. It is however, s clean as it gets.
Suspension- All new front and rear suspension. New upper and lower ball joints, ie rods, dler arm, trut rod bushings, pper and lower control arm bushings, way bar bushings and front shocks. Rear has new leaf spring shackles and bushings, nd shocks. All suspension parts were cleaned and bead blasted, hen painted back to correct colors of the suspension according to how we saw it when the parts were pressure washed. All suspension parts were put back with the factory inspection marks that were on the original parts. Torsion bars, ear end, hocks, prings all got the inspection marks we could find or replicate. Very few cars out there get this attention to detail.
Brakes- The brakes are 100% all new. All the backing plates and brake parts were blasted then cleared to keep their natural finish. New brake shoes, ardware, heel cylinders, aster cylinder, ower brake booster and all rubber hoses were replaced.
Electrical- All of the electrical on the car has had attention. It has new wiper harness, ngine wiring harness, nd front headlight wiring harness. The main dash harness was completely restored as well and tested.
Engine- Has a 440 Motor that has been rebuilt with about 10k miles on it. The motor is now .30 over. It was built to stock specs with the exception of a .480 lift cam, ouble roller timing chain, djustable rocker arms and 10-1 pistons. All accessories on the motor are brand new. Motor has 70lbs of oil pressure and runs great. It has 20 miles on the motor since being freshened up and motor tore back down and new gaskets installed. Has new alternator, tarter, ensors, elts, oses, askets, ower steering pump, park plugs, ires, istributor, tc. The motor is not numbers matching.
Transmission- Completely rebuilt 4 speed transmission. It is not original to this car. I had all the internals replaced and works great. Fully rebuilt and fresh. It has all new McCloud 10 1/2" clutch, ressure plate, hrowout bearing, ilot bearing, hift rods, speed handle, speed mechanism. All new bushings, lip, djusting rod, nd hardware. New shift boot and bezel as well. 4 speed also has correct markings that it had from 1968. Has new bell housing and a new bellhousing cover, ork and flywheel. The set up is completely new.
Driveline- A completely rebuilt driveline with new u joints, ew front yoke and speed balanced for a smooth ride on the highway.
Rear end- Dana 60 Rear end with 4.10 gears, ew pinion seal, ear brake lines and fresh fluid.
Grille- Fully Restored grille by GSW restorations. The grille is beautiful and a work of art. I forgot to tell him it was an R/T so it doesnt have the R/T emblem on the door but that could be changed out. This is the nicest grille you will see! All hoses are new along with hardware and trim.
Misc- Correct battery hold down. Has correct positive/negative battery cables. New wiper washer bottle with new motor. New voltage regulator, tarter relay, allast resistor. All wires in the correct looms that the factory used. All hardware is new as well. Has new vacuum lines for grille.New weatherstrip on trunk, oors and roof.
Glass- Has new front windshield with new gasket. Side windows and rear window is original to the car. I've lubricated all moving parts and all windows roll up and down as they should.
As you can see I've invested a lot of time in money into the Charger R/T. This car would cost 60-70k to build easily these days. This is an opportunity to own one of the hottest cars right now! I forgot to add to the transmission section of my ad that this is a factory automatic car that has been professionally converted to a 4 speed. Everything was purchased from Brewers 4 speed parts in Ohio. 100% new 4 speed set up. Also, his is an A/C car and all the A/C stuff under the hood is missing. Thanks!

A few additional things as I am getting a lot of emails asking the same thing. First I will post the first half of the VIN since everyone is asking that. It will be in the pictures section where currently I only have 1 picture. Also, s stated in my ad the front grille emblem does not say R/T as when it was restored I didnt let him know it was an R/T so he put the standard emblem in the door. It can be changed out. Most of your questions can be answered if you read everything in my ad. I know its a lot of info but that is why I have no issues when I sell a car. Everything listed has been done to the car and probably a lot of other info I have forgot. Anything the Charger needs at this point is very minor or can be your final touches. Thanks!
