1969 HEMI Coronet R/T Convertible

WS27J9GXXXXXX

This is one of the four Hemi 4-spd convertibles built for the 1969 model year. Of the 10 Coronet R/T Hemi Convertibles built there were six automatics and four, -spd cars. Of the four, his is the only documented all numbers matching one in existence! By that I'm talking about the Hemi block, 8 spline 4-spd, nd Dana 60 rear end were all born in this car. With a production date of Wednesday Nov 6th 1968 (B06), t was the only one painted in Q5 Bright Turquoise Metallic, ith a white convertible top and white Transverse Sport R/T tape stripe. This car has a striking appearance and has to be one of the best looking color combinations of that era to roll out of the St Louis Assembly Plant. The car was also coded for a Rallye Instrument Cluster with Tachometer and clock, enter Console, remium Grade Trim with Belt Moldings, imulated ΒΌ panel Air Scoops, nd the N96 Ramcharger Hood.

Many of the parts used during the restoration were NOS pulled from their original Mopar boxes purchased in the mid 70', uch as the Grille, eadlight Bezels, aillight Lenses, ear Finish Panel, ocker Moldings, op Latches, ood Scoop Bezels, nd Hemi Emblems. All four headlights are correct General Electric 1969 vintage bulbs. The car was built with all date coded parts such as Tinted Glass from ECS, -Spd Wiper Motor and the original Oct 68 Hemi Carbs. Also has the correct Prestolite Dual Point Distributor, nd the correct part numbered Radiator. It has all Mopar belts, hoses as well as date coded plug wires. A complete ECS exhaust system was used with their new date coded Hemi Mufflers that sound just like the originals. Not tinny like the previous reproductions.

The original Hemi Block is now bored 20 over and has NOS stock Chrysler pistons. (Not TRW or Keith Black). The crank is 10-10 and the stock rods were reconditioned and the assembly was balanced. New cam, iming chain and oil pump were also used. The 18-spline transmission has all new bearings and synchronizers and shifts like new. The 3:54 Dana 60 was disassembled and rebuilt using new carrier and pinion bearings along with a new posi clutch pack. The date found on the original ring gear is 8/28/68.

The convertible top is the correct Continental Grain that Chrysler used, nd has the glass rear window. The top rafters were sandblasted and powder coated the correct shade of black.

All gauges were replaced with new including a quartz tic-tock-tach that works perfect. Legendary Interior supplied the seat covers, oor panels, nd new white conv. top boot. A new trunk mat and 15X6 restored "H" stamped steel wheel finish out the trunk.

The undercarriage was painted in the correct shade of grey primer and then body color was sprayed over the edges by the rocker panels, rame rails and wheel tubs just as Chrysler did in their paint process. Then undercoat was applied to the tubs and outer inner fenders.

All suspension and brakes have been completely rebuilt and detailed including the original Hemi K-Frame and leaf springs.

The car is shown wearing a set of 15X7 Kelsey Hays Warrior Wheels and a set of red line radials. Commonly referred to as the Recall Wheels, hrysler had recalled these wheels in Dec of 1968.

This impeccable rotisserie restoration was performed by several knowledgeable Mopar builders including the owner who has 32 years of assembly line experience at the two St Louis Chrysler Assembly Plants. There was not a single part on this automobile that was left untouched during the restoration. The attention to detail on this extremely rare and desirable Hemi B-Body Convertible is second to none.

Now for the first time this freshly restored automobile is being offered to the public for $575,000.00. Another Hemi B-Body Convertible has rumored to sell as high as $600K in the last few years. Keep in mind, ess than 10 years ago E-Body Hemi convertibles were in this price range.
