Description of 1947 Dodge Other Pickups

Up for auction. y 1947 Dodge Pickup. The last year of this body style. This truck has spent it's life here in the high desert which is good for preserving autos and also we don't salt our roads here so very little rust to contend with. I was going to use this truck for parts for my 1946 that I'm restoring but way to good to cannibalize. I believe it to be 100% complete and original. I pulled the bed apart and replaced the stringers and the floor taking the time to save and reuse the original bolts and metal runners to go with the patina of the rest of the truck. This took a lot of hours to save and chase all threads. This truck is solid. I had the 16" wheels powder coated and put on bias tires that are in good shape with new tubes and had them balanced. The underside of the truck including the frame is in great shape. As you can see by the way it sits the suspension is good. The steering feels tight. The crank out front windshield works and the original glass is good except some bubbling around the edges also the back window is good. The side windows will need replaced. There are some dents and welds on the truck body but overall in good shape and presents itself well. As you can see. he original window cranks. oor handles. nd escusions are there and in good shape. The doors both open and close nice and smooth. No slamming these doors. The heater is really neat and reads Mopar Deluxe. I pulled the starter. leaned and replaced it and functions flawlessly. It has the original ignition to the coil and works good. I didn't have a key so I pulled the tumbler out and can work it with a flat blade screwdriver. I will send the tumbler with it so it can be re keyed. I pulled the distributor out and put new points and condensor in it. I was getting plenty of spark out of it but was unable to make it run. I took compression on it and was getting low compression on #1 & #3 . I suspect stuck valve because it had sat for years and might come free if could get it running. There are no rattles or clanks out of the engine and the oil pressure comes up with turning it over. The gauges are nice and I can tell that they work. The heat gauge came up when the weather was hot and the oil and amp gauge worked while cranking the engine. The speedo has the little pointer needs fixed but that is common with these trucks and can be easily fixed. The clutch and transmission feel really good and tight. I haven't tried putting any fluid in the brakes but the pedal feels good. Horn works and sounds good. Also the e brake works good. Radiator looks very nice and straight with no dents or bent fins. Looks like the original color is red with black fenders and running boards. All I ever did was hose off the outside because I like the patina the truck has.
