Description of 1957 Dodge Lancer Custom Royal |
1957 Dodge Custom Royal Hello classic Mopars and Exner's big fin car fans. Here is a very rare. all original and unmolested 1957 Dodge Custom Royal 2 door hardtop with super rare factory installed air (AC) and power brakes (with booster). I believe that this is the model under the even rarer D500 Dodge. This very solid and straight automobile has been in enclosed storage for many. many years awaiting restoration and/or refurbishing (no need to go all out to make this car a nice driver). This is as close to a barn find as it comes. Very solid and straight body showing only normal to very minor wear with no damage to speak about except for the driver side fender. which shows some very minor damage near the front edge by the headlight (small dent). I will include a replacement fender and side stainless steel trim piece that I had acquired some years ago which are in great shape. There is normal. slight/minimal rust here and there (mostly surface discoloration - nothing remotely bad at all. but a couple of areas do show minor pitting such as the floor and trunk pans). The frame looks very good and extremely solid. The exterior paint is in good condition and may not even need to be redone; a very good detail or buffing with compounds/waxes may produce quite a surprisingly good result. The car does not run. but rolls and steers fairly well. I do believe that the big V8 engine is a 325 Poly (260 HP). I was told that the motor did turn when I bought the car but I never tried to find out as the car went into storage as soon as I received it many years ago as I was not quite ready to have the car worked on just yet. I don't think the engine needs much. (it's all there) but do expect some mechanical work to be needed at a minimum; a good mechanic should be able to get it going without too much effort. The windshield is cracked/has a small hole on the driver's side and will need to be replaced. The passenger side front window has a crack in it but the rest of the glass is in great/excellent condition. All the stainless steel trim is in good to very good condition. Some of the DODGE scripts/letters are missing on the hood and trunk lid. (I may be able to find some original replacements for an extra cost - as I have another 57 Dodge). The bumpers are very solid. in very nice condition and quite straight; the rear one could be re-chromed at some time in the future. The hubcaps (original) are in extremely good/superb condition and the lancer heads are super nice. The lancer spears and head emblems on the rear quarters are also in remarkable condition. I believe that the interior is all original; it will need to be restored. The seats are very solid and are damage free but will need to be reupholstered. new carpet needs to be installed. and the headliner needs to be repaired/tuned up. Three of the original headliner panels will need to be reinstalled - they are in very good shape (they are now in the trunk). The door panels are in good to fair condition; the rear ones are still on while the front ones were taken off (see photos) - they are inside the trunk now. The instrument panel and dashboard are in pretty good condition and are complete. a good cleaning and buffing should work magic. Everything is there (door handles. window cranks. etc. ). The odometer shows only just over 75K (75. 25 miles) from new. which are believed to be original based on the good/great overall condition of the car. Unbelievable! This big fin '57 Dodge is in remarkable condition (by comparison with what is usually found/available) and is absolutely worthy of someone's time. attention and financial investment. Although needed. the restorative work can be as minimal or as involved as the new owner will want. This rare and great original survivor just needs a reasonable amount of work combined with some TLC to bring back to its former glory. They don't make cars like this anymore and they are harder to find as time goes by - especially the ones with these rare options. You always see a lot of classic muscle at car shows. but seldom enjoy any late 50's big fin cars; it's always such a pleasure to see one. The car is priced well (low) and the buy it now price is quite reasonable for this type of classic automobile in this great condition. Of course. I have a good. clear title for it :) Don't miss this opportunity! Please call me with any questions at 303-941-1765. You are welcomed and encouraged to look at the car in person before bidding. but the photos should be quite helpful in assisting you to make a good decision. Bid with confidence - see my 100% positive feedback. More photos may be available upon request. Please note that the red tail light plastic lenses and the scripts have been placed inside the trunk in a box after the photos were taken to prevent any damage and/or loss. The extra parts shown on one photo are also in the trunk; most are extras/spares. Thanks for your interest in my action! Happy and successful bidding! |
