Description for Dodge 1948 Business Coupe 1948

I am the third owner of this 1948 Dodge Business Coupe; a model D24. Both previous owners were in Northern California. This is the real business coupe, not the club coupe. You can tell the difference in that the business coupe does not have little windows behind the doors, and the business coupe does not have a back seat. This business coupe is all original, unmolested, rust free, and factory correct. It has the famous Fluid Drive with a three speed transmission. The original flathead six cylinder engine is extremely clean and runs great, there is no blue smoke, no black smoke, no white smoke, it runs wonderfully. This car shifts and drives so well that you could easily drive it from California to New York and back with no problems. Both windows roll up and down easily. The previous owner had rewired the car with new wiring and accumulated many parts anticipating a complete restoration, but it never happened. All these extra parts are included in this sale. Extra parts include; extra tail light housings, tail light lenses, trunk light and badge, trunk handle, backup light, extra dash knobs, switches and cables, front turn signal lens, and many more miscellaneous small parts. The previous owner removed the original radio and I have it as well as seven other radios he collected, all eight original radios go with this car, as well as the original speaker and speaker grate cover. Here are some of the highlights of what I have done to the car during my ownership; had the starter rebuilt, the generator rebuilt, the ammeter gage now shows proper charging, new battery, new solenoid, complete new factory correct exhaust system (downpipe, muffler, NOS Dodge front clamp, exhaust pipe, original hangers), new brake system (includes new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders (6), hoses (3), brake shoes (8), axle grease seals (4)), cleaned and flushed and bled entire brake system- brakes now works perfect, flushed the cooling system and filled with water and coolant, temperature gage now runs around 160 all day when warmed up, no coolant leaks anywhere, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new gas line from tank to carburetor, replaced gas tank with a very good and rust free original, changed the oil and oil filter, oil pressure gage shows 40 plus psi. As stated earlier, this car has been in California its entire life and there is no rust anywhere. No rust on the body and no rust on the frame. I included photos of the floor and trunk and underneath the car. This car can easily be taken apart or worked on as all the fasteners are rust free, no worries about broken or rusted bolts. The drip rail along the roof is perfect. Both hood halves open and close and lock shut easily with the factory pull handles. All trim pieces, molding pieces, grill, hood ornament and badges are there, all original, nothing missing. Original keys included, as well as a locking gas cap. The tires have over 80% tread and do not leak air. Car comes with classic 1948 California original license plates and a custom car cover. Remaining issues include; it needs a new turn signal switch, and a correct headlight switch, and the fuel gage does not work (don’t know if it is the gage or the tank float). An incorrect headlight switch was installed by the previous owner, but it works well. Please call me during day light hours with any questions at 916.860.9690. I have a clear California title in my name at my home address. I can store this car for up to 30 days at no charge. Full payment by check or money order due within three days after auction ends, or come by and pay in cash. Please do not bid unless you can purchase this car. No financing and no trades. Thanks, Jeff
