1970 Challenger T/A: 340-6pk, Automatic, PS, PDB, 3.55 suregrip, Console, AM Radio with Rear speaker, Ralleye Gauges, Dual racing mirrors, FK5 Dark Burnt Orange Metallic paint, H6K4 Burnt Orange Interior. Number's matching Engine, Transmission, Radiator Support, VIN/Door tag, Both Fender Tags, Broadcast Sheet and Monroney Label (window sticker, reproduction). The car was restored 10-15yrs ago and during the restoration a black vinyl top was added and the interior was changed to black. The orginal 3.55 grears were swapped out by the last owner for better highway driving. 3.23s were installed and the stock gears do come with the sale. Also, to prevent the hood from bowing, the hood springs were removed and I use a set of braces to hold the hood open. The springs come with the car and I can easily install them if you wish.
I have owned this car for almost three years and have driven it reliabley on nice days, long trips, and around town to local car shows. I replaced the steering coupler, new ball joints, and have done the periodic oil changes using Valvoline 10-30 Racing oil with Zinc. The car starts up easily, choke works correctly, and the transmission shifts perfectly. From what I can see, the metal is all original and the paint shows well. Again, this being an older restoration, there are some parts showing wear like the carpet, interior panels, etc. There are a few scratches and chips due to driving it around. Glass and brightwork is nice as is the chrome. Everything on the car works except the clock.
The history on the car as told to me by the previous owner is as follows: The car was built at the Hamtramck and delivered to Tustin Avenue Dodge, Inc in Santa Ana, CA. That is noted on the Monroney Label. The car then traveled to Baltimore where the restoration was done. It then went to TX and then back to LA where the previous owner to me lives. Then I bought it and it has been in TX the last few years. The extended period in CA is why I am pretty confident the car is original metal. I don't see any evidence of patchwork and the inside of the quarters have orginal undercoating. During the restoraiton, the car was painted a combination of black and bodycolor. While not factory correct with the gray primer and overspray look, it does look nice and its' very clean on the underside. Also, undercoating was applied to the floorpans and trunk. You'll also notice that the transmission was also incorrectly painted Hemi Orange and while it looks nice, not correct. I have more photos underneath, as well as engine bay and suspension that I can send.The car is listed in the T/A Registry and tags has been decoded by Barry Washington. It's time for something new and I'd like the car to go onto the next caretake to enjoy as much as I have. The car can stay here for a a few weeks until you work out shipping details.
