Description of 1921 Dodge Touring

Up for auction isa numbers matching 1921 Dodge Brothers Touring car that runs and drives very well. This more rarer brand of car was a mid-range quality car for the 1920s. This car has a fully restored body, motor, transmission, roof and interior. All fluids have been changed and mechanics inspected: transmission, oil pan and pistons, and rear end. The car starts up reliably and putters down the road charmingly at 35-45mph. Has solid wooden artillery wheels that were cleaned and restored and are tight. Good rubber tires and tubes with a working spare,

The interior upholstery was redone in the 1990s and is soft, supple and very comfortable. The inner springs are in excellent shape and have been cleaned. The original wooden floorboards with carpeting still survive. Has a robe rail and the top with irons are in very good shape. There are two repaired tears along the back sides but they have been shaded to blend in. The top does fold down and clamp into the original roof clamps on each side. The headlamps and tail lamp work and all gauges and instruments are functional. Oil shows good 4lbs pressure and Dodge speedometer works well. Horn is there but not hooked up yet.

The rods and pistons are good and the car has aluminum pistons. The oil pan was dropped and cleaned and all new gaskets installed including the oil pump and seals. The timing chain was inspected and is factory tight. Has an original Detroit Lubricator working carburetor and vacuum canister. Gas tank is clean and sealed. Working water-pump and good cleaned radiator.

This is a great example of a Dodge Brothers automobile before they were sold off to Chrysler, you can putter around in this and enjoy a by-gone era. Has a 3-speed manual transmission that does require a bit of finesse to shift due to this being before synchro-mesh, but it isn’t hard. The brakes work as good as any 1920s car. The emergency brake doesn’t hold too well and there is some play in the steering, but that can be expected. Has a clean title.
