The following are additional comments regarding the vehicle:On the date appraised. this 1947 Dodge Model WC represented a very good example of this true American classic 1/2-Ton Stepside Pickup truck. In fact. these trucks from 1939-1947 were designated as "Job Rated" trucks due to their use in the military. As depicted on the many digital photographs this '47 Dodge has been painstakingly restored to a near perfect. as factory condition. There is a notes section on the historic documentation of this truk as told by the previous owner who was responsible for the restoration. In addition to the noted condition. this '47 Dodge has a restored stake bed. full instrumentation. and even period correct bias ply tires. However. due to the missing VIN tag on the door jam. the engine/transmission could not be verified. the VIN was referenced only by the vehicle title. This vehicle is typical of the type automobile that both collectors and enthusiasts seek when looking to either add to. or expand onto their collection. We are currently in an economy in which classic car values continue to consistently improve. Record prices are being paid at each consecutive auction for similar automobiles. As long as this trend continues. a vehicle of this caliber is likely to continue to appreciate in the foreseeable future. The fair market value of this 1947 Dodge Pickup is based on the average asking and selling price of similar vehicles available in the market place and credited for the noted condition. Previous owner's documented history of this 1947 Dodge 1/2-Ton Pickup:"This 1947 Dodge pickup. was purchased new for $1. 95 by Lewis & Margaret Weibel of Sidney. Nebraska. Sold in July 1958 to Lloyd Briggs of Vona. Colorado. the truck was used as a farm vehicle. Outfitted with overload springs and a four speed transmission. the truck operated driverless with a worker throwing hay bales off the back of the truck to the cattle in the field Total load capacity was 22 hay bales. The truck was abandoned some years later and left in a ravine subjected to years of wind and sand storms. A nephew of Mr. Weible. James E. Dunegon. spotted the truck in sand up to the windshield. After days of digging the truck was removed and towed from Vona. Colorado to Kent. Washington. The truck was cleaned up and painted red primer to stop rust. Dunegon was drafted to Vietnam and turned the truk over to his father Dan Leger. Leger later sold the truck to Keith Elliott of Puyallup. Washington. The truck box had been removed and the cab stripped of many instrument gauges. In 1994. the truck was purchased by Vic Thompson. also of Puyallup Washington and the truck's restoration began. The truck was put on blocks and the cab disassembled and removed from the frame. Original body parts including the grill. engine. and radiator were removed and rebuilt. Seven Dodge trucks from years 1940-1950 had to be purchased to furnish necessary parts to complete the restoration. Instrument gauges were ordered from Spokane and other sources. Wiring harnesses were purchased in Rhode Island. Many other antique auto parts stores were solicited for various parts. Two and a half years and 2. 00 labor hours and over $11. 00 later. the truck is as close as possible to the factory original. ____________________________________________Several Comparable Vehicles noted in appraisal: Classic Cars. com. 1947 Dodge Pickup Truck for sale at $32. 00 6/24/2014Kissimmee Auction Lot # F84. 1947 Dodge WC 1/2 Ton Pickup.
