Description of 1988 Dodge Other Pickups

For auction is this 1988 Ramcharger 2WD with Cummins transplant. This Ramcharger has treated me well and has been an absolute blast to drive. I've driven this truck on many long trips and it's done great.Fuel economy has been absolutely great and up to 26 MPG highway if not driven aggressively.

Engine runs strong and dependable. Compound turbo has a Cat 669501turbo on top! I'm not sure of the brand of turbo on bottom. Stock Inter-cooler is included as well. Boost is displayed by a Glow Shift gauge with variable color modes. This motor has a fuel pin installed that will make the smoke roll when throttle is punched. Speaking of smoke, exhaust is a straight fabricated type that exits underneath the passenger door. I installed a new radiator that has no leaks and cools well. Radiator is cooled by a manually operated electric fan. A new oil pan was recently installed. Unfortunately, a couple drops of oil do leak from the engine when parked overnight. I think it's coming from the turbo oil return pipe and shouldn't be hard to fix. A new electrical fuel pump operated by a manual switch has been added. I would add another battery in parallel as the single battery it does have seems to get a bit of stress on it from starts. This engine does start faster than my new Cummins though! My favorite mod to this truck is the transmission crossmember. This has been beautifully fabricated and installed. This transmission is a two wheel drive stock type. Inside the transmission is a very grabby ceramic aftermarket clutch. This truck can be converted to 4wd but I've not felt the need to do so and have gotten out of tight spots very well with the big lugs on its tires. Please notice instrument cluster to include speedo and fuel gauge is not operationable. It does have a small oil pressure rise that indicates pressure on oil pressure gauge. This part of the engine transplant is not completed.I've installed a very heavy custom front and rear bumper. The front bumper is made from 1/4 inch steel with a modified brush guard on top. Manually operated fog lights are attached. The rear bumper is a heavy duty fabricated bumper from a service truck. These bumpers should treat you well if you hit something.Body lift is a 2.5 inch skyjacker. Front leaf sprigs were completely replaced with the kit and rear leafs have an add a leaf installed. This kit was good for up to a 1 ton truck and the ride is pretty good.Tires have a lot of life left on them and get awesome grip. As you can see from the pics above they are excellent. They do awesome in mud but I don't like them on ice.Fender flares are Bushwacker. When I installed them I cut out a small amount of rust on the passenger side rear and coated it with stop rust and anti rust rubberized coating spray then installed flare. Rust is to a minimum on the rest of the body. I cut out 4 of the 6 body supports and fabricated new ones. The floors and the floor of the bed or cargo area are in awesome shape and basically rust free. Rockers are good to go as well.Stereo is an MP3 CD Am Fm with Blue tooth capability Kenwood Excelon KDC-X998. This stereo also includes hook ups for two USB's. Truck's antenna needs to be hooked up.Original heat runs. This is a factory non AC truck and no mod has been added to make it AC.I added an original center console that matches interrior. One seat has a cigarette burn that does not go through fabric. Seats are all in good shape and rear bench folds down and up and is removed easily for increased cargo capacity. Please note, headliner is removed.Paint is a flat black and not a high quality show type.
