Description of 1966 Dodge Coronet

Offering for sale is a beautiful 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 convertible. This is a rare car. A lot of people would read that and say. are you kidding me they made a ton of 1966 Coronet 500 convertibles. That part is true. but this car is a real 383 car with it's original drivetrain. Chrysler only made 454 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 convertibles. with the 383 option. That is a very low number. and to be in this kind of shape. with the original drive train is almost unheard of. As you can plainly see by the pictures it is a gorgeous example of a classic Coronet 500 convertible. This car was purchased by the current owner in 1969 and he has taken meticulous care of the car. The car was painted and interior was redone in 2007. The paint is dark red metallic and it is the correct color for the car. The interior is a legendary interior. The car was brought to a local Mopar shop in 2007 for a restoration. The engine and transmission were removed. checked. nbsp;and detailed. The engine is the correct Turquoise color for 1966. The engine bay was stripped. cleaned primed and painted the correct dark red metallic. Wiper motor was removed and restored. New master cylinder was installed. The radiator was re-cored and is in perfect working condition. This car is like a time capsule. The 383 runs like a dream. it is smooth and has plenty of power. The transmission shifts perfect. The exhaust is new with Thrush turbo mufflers and magnaflow stainless exhaust tips. The sound is low and throaty. The convertible top works perfectly. The top was purchased from Year One and professionally installed. The car rides like a dream. The tires were purchased new and there are 5 matching tires. The spare matches the rest of the tires. but is on a steel rim. The wheels are Crager classics and are outstanding. There are air shocks in the back if needed but to date have never been used. The front and rear bumpers are straight and clean but do need re-chroming. No rust. no speckles. Convertible top frame is perfect. Interior windshield chrome is perfect. The headlight surrounds do have a couple of dings. as well as the rear tail light trim. The chrome trim has no pits. I am always impressed every time I see this car. This is one solid car. The car was sold brand new to the Western Beverage company in Twin Falls Idaho. The original certicard is with the car. The car was sold by Bob Reese Dodge in Twin falls Idaho. That dealership has changed hands and it's name but is still there and is still a dodge dealership. The car was purchased by the current owner in 1969! Since that time it has spent most of it's time in indoor storage. Here is the breakdown of the car from Chrysler Historical Society. The floor is in very good condition. There are two small patches in the floor. One is the drivers side front. the other is the rear passenger side. Both are small and done well. This car comes with all the original equipment other than the original starter. Original steel wheels with hub caps and tires. Original alternator. Original carb. original air cleaner. and original valve covers. There are not many of these cars left especially in this condition. and with the original drive train. and the original parts. A rare car to start with and kept in such great shape for all these years is amazing. Of course since this is a 49 year old car and because it is sold privately there are no warranties or guarantees. These convertibles just don't come up that often and this one is being offered at a very reasonable reserve. Please bid with confidence and please ask any questions regarding the car.
