Description for Dodge Power Wagon 1948

1948 Dodge Power Wagon

The Dodge Power Wagon had its birth in 1946 and it was Dodge who brought to the American public along with Jeep the idea of having a 4-wheel drive vehicle for personal use.Little did Dodge realize the huge market that would appear.Dodge had a wonderful slogan, “The truck that needs no roads”.One of the largest Power Wagons that was produced as a pickup truck and a 4-wheel drive/drive train is the one-ton pickup called the B1 (first series). The engine of course was a beefy, high torque, 230 c.i. flat head six.

The Power Wagon that you see here has basically been fully restored and of course is painted in green with a brown vinyl (looks like leather), interior door panels, headliner and carpeting.

There is of course a large powerful winch on the front end.Split windshield that cranks out for ventilation.

The upgrades include the conversion from Six Volts positive to Twelve Volts with a negative ground.

Mileage is unknown.

Electric windshield wipers.

A white oak truck bed with weather resistant Spar varnish.

The truck uses upgraded gauges.Heater.

Original manual 4-speed transmission.

These trucks are as big and husky as any pickup truck that was ever made. When you shift the transmission into “Granny Low” as they say you can pull tree stumps right out of the ground just by hooking up a chain to the stump.

If you are looking for something is just about as masculine as any vehicle can be, kind of like a normal Dodge pickup truck on steroids, or want to be the center of attention at any car show, this could be the Power Wagon you have been looking for.A few years back we saw a Power Wagon parked next to a Duesenberg and the crowd around the Power Wagon was just as large as the crowd around the Duesenberg.

There are very few Power Wagons that are as highly restored as this one and it is really a rare opportunity to get one that is ready to go and fresh.Park this Power Wagon next to any pickup truck from the 1940’s, 1950’s and the Power Wagon will make it look like a baby brother.
