Description for Dodge Challenger 1970

1970 Dodge Challenger RT SE

All the right stuff in a great color.

We think this has to be one of the best combinations for a 1970 Dodge Challenger, it even has leather seats, air conditioning, the RT package, the SE package and the extremely rare horn ring embedded into the center edge of the entire perimeter of the steering wheel. Be sure to check out the picture of the fluted steering column, one of the best looking steering columns ever.

These particular Challengers were designed specifically to be competitive with the Camaro. When it came out at the 1970’s auto shows, everybody agreed that it was a much sexier design than the Camaro and it is still a high impact visual car.

This car has about every conceivable option, check out the SE Package and RT Package and all the options that are on this car!

R/T Option

The R/T option added performance features to the base hardtop. R/T stood for “Road and Track.” It was required if you wanted the most powerful engines. This car has a 383 Magnum V8, High Performance Cam Shaft, Dual Exhaust, 335 HP

Heavy Duty Suspension, torsion bars, rear springs, sway bar and Heavy Duty Shocks.

Heavy Duty Front Disk Brakes and Rear Drum Brakes – Power Brakes

SE Option

The SE option added luxury features. SE stood for “Special Edition.” Dodge sometimes called it the “sports hardtop” and advertised it as for the formal type.

Vinyl Roof - Formal Rear Window. The most noticeable difference was the vinyl roof with the smaller back window, AKA the “limo window.”

Bright Molding Trim

The SE option included leather front seats.

Formed Headliner with “consolette”. Under that roof was a velour headliner and an overhead console with warning lights to remind you to close the door, get fuel, and fasten your seatbelt.

Door Trim Panels dressed up/deluxe

Seat belts

Rallye Instrument Cluster on dash. The Rallye instrument cluster contained four large equal sized pods with a 150 mph speedometer, 8,000 rpm tachometer, clock and one pod containing four gauges for oil pressure, alternator, engine temperature and fuel. Also included is a trip odometer.

SE badging included a triangular emblem on the back side of the roof and the name “Special Edition” on the inside of each door panel.

The driver’s side door sports a remote-control racing-style side-view mirror.

At the front, a deeply inset grill looks like a hungry mouth. This grill was based on sketches by designer Carl Cameron for the prototype 1966 Dodge Charger. The inset grill holds the Challenger and R/T emblems.

Unique Bright Trim Touches.
