Description of 1960 Dodge Other Pickups

1960 Dodge D-100 Short Bed Big Window

This is a cool old dodge. Pretty rare I think. I know the word "rare" is overused, but these are difficult to find. This is the 1958-1960 bodystyle and I rarely see them for sale, in any condition. I'm told by dodge enthusiasts that the shortbox, big back window, 4-barrel V8, pushbutton auto, front bumper, etc. were options on this truck. I think the majority of dodge pickups in '60 were plain jane models. The topper has been on the truck probably since new. I bought the truck from the son of the original owner. He had plans to restore it but it never happened. This truck could be a driver with some work, or an excellent restoration project. It does run and drive but will need a little more work to be a driver. I go to many car shows and I can't recall ever seeing any '58-'60 dodge pickups. I can help arrange shipping if needed. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks.
DRIVETRAIN

This truck has the 318 V8 4-barrel engine. It runs good but needs a basic tune up. It doesn't run bad, doesn't smoke, doesn't have any ticks or knocks. No oil in the water, or water in the oil. It runs cool with no overheating. It just sat for a long time so it should have fluids changed, filters, plugwires, etc.. a tuneup. Just the basics. I can check the numbers on it if you want. Some old rigs did not have VIN numbers on the block. I can try though if it matters to you. The exhaust should maybe be redone. The master cylinder is new. The brakes work but should be inspected and adjusted to be driven daily. The transmission works in all gears. The tires are old and could be used but are studded and have weather cracks. I haven't had it on the highway. The hubcaps are not original. I didn't plan to include them but they are included if you want them. They are old chrysler I think. The wheels are white, and all match and look original. It needs some work but no major mechanical work.

BODY

This truck has a real nice body for an unrestored Dodge of this vintage. The floorpan, in front of the seat, needs replaced. The pan is fine under the seat. Floorpans are made for this, and they are not expensive. Both front fenders have minor eyebrow rust in the front fenders that was repaired at one point. The rear edge of the drivers front fender has rust starting on the back of that fender. Flat metal, easy to fix. The only other visible rust-through is on the bottom of the tailgate, on the outer skin. Easy repair also. The bed is very nice. No rust through on the bottom. Just surface pitting from the topper leaking. I've been all over under the truck and the frame and undercarriage is fine. Frame rust is pretty much non-existent in this area of the country. The doors, hood, and tailgate open/close. The drivers door needs hinge pin replaced on the top. It still closes though. The only filler I see is on the eyebrows I mentioned before. Overall, the body is real solid for a project or just drive it as-is.

INTERIOR

The interior is pretty basic and minimal in these. The seat is in good condition actually. This has vinyl door panels which was probably optional or part of the trim package. It needs a carpet or floormat. The headliner is gone I believe. These are cheap and easy to replace. The dash area is in good shape and not cutup. I'm sure it could use door seals. Original radio still in place. I haven't tried it to see if it works. The interior, and the truck overall, is very original and unmolested.
