Description of 1992 Dodge Stealth RT

This auction is for an excellent white 1992 Dodge Stealth RT all-wheel drive Twin Turbo sports car. This model is exactly same as the 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 except for minor styling and spoilers.

This Stealth is in great condition with many new parts.

Factory installed equipment includes the in-phase all-wheel steering option, power steering, front and rear power anti-lock disc brakes, cruise control, premium six speaker AM-FM stereo, factory computer climate controlled heat/air conditioning, leather seats, space saver spare tire and jack, driver's side air bag, power windows, mirrors, and locks, and alloy wheels. This Stealth also has the factory sun-roof with sun shade. Rear seats are fold down.

Engine: The car has a newly rebuilt intercooled twin turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 engine (only several hundred miles on it to make sure it has had proper break in) with oil cooler. It's running new Brian Crower Stage 2 cam shafts, which are stronger than stock (slightly higher lift and longer duration) but still very street-able, giving it a slightly lopey idle but otherwise the only difference compared to stock is when you press on the accelerator. New timing belt, idlers, and tensioner. New water pump. K&N Air Filter. New engine oil and filter after break-in.

Turbochargers: The car has new 13g turbos (built by Pure Turbos of Oceanside, CA), aka Mitsubishi's "sport" turbos. These are direct bolt on TD-O4 turbos and require no other engine, fuel, emission or computer modifications. They give you a better mid and upper range performance without giving up the low end. (The Brian Crower cams work nicely with the sport turbos; I consistently average 25 mpg or better and have run this combination for more than a hundred twenty thousand great miles without a glitch in my other 1992 Stealth.)

Transaxle and Transfer Case: The 5 speed Getrag transaxle and transfer case have been fully rebuilt (new rings/synchros/output shaft/input) by Jack's Transmisson of Colorado Springs, CO.

Drive shaft: The drive shaft is brand new, with all new universal joints.

Axles: Both front axles are remanufactured with new boots.

Brakes: All new pads and rotors front.

Wheels: factory functional air-ducting alloy wheels with wheel locks.

Tires: new BF Goodrich 245/45 ZR-17 G Force Comp 2 All Season Radial tires with new valves.

Air conditioning: new seals in compressor, new schrader service port valves on low and high sides, new evaporator/drier, 134a refrigerant conversion (from R12).

Engine management: rebuilt ECU and climate control computers (including new capacitors); new MAF sensor.

Interior: Both front seats (driver and passenger) re-upholstered in new imported leather; new leather shift boot; new factory defroster vents (they're not cracked on this car!!).

Windows: both power front window regulators/motors replaced with new; new drivers side switch.

Fuel system: new factory in-tank fuel pump assembly (including new level sender); new fuel filter.

Exhaust: Borla cat-back system; fully emissions compliant.

Radio: installed a newer than 1992 premium factory AM-FM stereo radio with a front jack for ipod, iphone, satellite radio, etc. (I should note that this disabled the remote radio controls on the steering wheel, but the factory plug is present and many versions of radios installed in later Mitsubishi cars allow for both a newer radio with front jack and keep the steering wheel radio controls going - I know this for sure because I found and installed such a newer radio in my other 1992 Stealth).

Suspension alignment: four-wheel alignment done.

Paint and body: The paint and body are in pretty good condition as you can see from the photos. I believe the car had been repainted in its original white before I got it. There are some minor defects here and there when you get up close (front bumper, a small repair area on the upper right rear quarter panel, a small wrinkle where the driver's door meets the left front fender), but all-in-all gives you a good look especially for daily driving unless and until you may want to make it perfect.

Title is clear, no liens. Mileage is 122,780. Sold "as is”, no warranty, of course.

I will happily include digital versions of the detailed factory chassis, electrical and engine manuals if you'd like them. The original printed owner's manual is in the glove box.

The only things I know that this car needs is (1) dial in the idle setting (there's a detailed procedure in the factory service manual - it's well worth the time and effort so you don't have to use your foot on the gas pedal every now and then), (2) touch up the paint in a couple places, (3) fix the passenger power window switch (the motor is new and the switch is good - something must be loose), (4) set the timing for the intermittent windshield wiper, and (5) get two new stops for the passenger side glove box from a salvage yard.

If you're looking for a really nice Stealth twin turbo that only needs a new owner to do the final dialing in and have fun driving it for years, here it is.

In case anyone is not sure they want to run the Brian Crower cam/13g turbo combination, I will on the buyer's request include a set of nearly new 9b stock turbos and a good used set of stock twin turbo camshafts so you can run the stock set-up if you prefer. This insures that you will have exactly what you want, not just what I happen to like.

I would certainly not sell this car if I was not too busy with work to be able to enjoy it (as a car guy, it just makes no sense to me at all let a great car sit un-used while its owner has to be on the road for the next couple of years). Once the major mechanical items are addressed - as they have been - these ahead-of-their-time cars are good for a couple hundred thousand (more) miles (my trusty green 1992 being exhibit 1) and IMHO offer one of the best bang for the buck grand touring sports cars anywhere on the planet.

Anyhow, there it is. Great twin turbo car at a super-budget friendly price. I'm happy to try to answer any questions; please ask them before you bid!

Thanks for looking, and good luck to all.

Also this car has a new heater core installed and new factory heater hoses (these are the ones that go from the core to the engine).
It also has new factory coil pack and power transistor, along with new factory spark plug wires and performance spark plugs.
According to 3S Storyteller, this car is quite rare in that it is one of only ten 1992 Dodge Stealth R/T Turbos manufactured with this white and beige/tan color combination and equipped with the factory sunroof.
