Description of 1916 Dodge Other

1916 Dodge Brothers Touring Model 30 - 35 Don't miss the chance to own a piece of history. This is the famous Dodge Brothers car that the Brothers built when they stopped producing parts for Ford's Model T. The car was so good that Dodge Brothers rose to 3rd place in sales within the first year of production. When asked why they were no longer making Ford parts and going to build their own car. The Brothers replied; 'One Day All Ford Owners Will Want An Automobile'. Someone has said that there is enough steel in a Dodge to build two Model T's. but not enough wood. I know that is true. I have owned both. General J. J. "Black Jack' Pershing was so impressed he ordered many of these '16 Dodges for use in World War I. In fact a 1916 Dodge Brothers was the first automobile used by the U. S. in war. Making this the perfect car to use in WWI reenactments. General Pershing also used the 1916 Dodge cars in pursuit of 'Pancho' Villa. The car for sale is as straight as you can find a 100 year old car. It was stored for many years resulting in the paint loss. But don't let a little paint worry you. The rest of this touring car is 98% complete. missing only the top door trim from both back door. As was done in the day. you can convert all four doors to a nice wood top trim. Original pieces could be found. but having the metal trim made would be simple. The original 12 volt coil has been replaced with a modern type. For a purist an original can be found. Rear spare carrier. That's all that is missing. If you can find a dent on this car. show it to me. I haven't found one yet. The interior is in great shape. The top is also good and will serve for many years. Body and Frame Numbers Match - #86. xx. The engine number is 47. xx higher as it should be. Built in August of 1916. One of the last 110 inch wheelbase cars. This is a complete original car. I had the gas tank professionally restored as it had years of 'molasses' in it. When I got it back on the car and gas got to the engine. 'Old Betsy' fired right up. She drives nice and steers good and tight. Tires are good. too. As it sets now I. replace the radiator hoses that I removed. install a new coil and ignition wires and this car will take you down the road. Do not miss this chance to own a soon to be. 100 year old Dodge Brothers Touring Car.
