Up for auction is what I would say is a rare 1939 Dodge D13 Deluxe Touring Sedan. This truly distinctive car was manufactured by the Chrysler Corporation of Canada in their Windsor, Ontario plant. The Chrysler Corp dubbed the Canadian Dodge's the D12 and D13 series. The D13 was the upgraded model. Total production of the D12 and D13 was 10,328. Of this number, only 4,456 D13 were manufactured. This car lived 62 years in Canada until 2001 when it moved to California. I wonder how many have survived in the snow covered areas of Canada? This Dodge D13 was manufacturedwitha Plymouth body and chassis, Dodge front end and Dodge hubcaps and insignias in and out. It has 1939 Desoto window cranks, door handles and escutcheons. The block is the Chrysler/Desoto block of 25 inches versus the Plymouth and Dodge 23 inches (important to know when you change the oil pan gasket).These things arewhat makesthe carunique and rare. The car is a 3 speed (3 on the tree) on the column. It runs well with new plugs, points, condenser, rotor and cap, new plug wires, rebuilt carburetor and new fuel pump and NORS coil and new thermostat and hoses. It does have and has had a rear main seal leak for the 20 years that I have owned it. The seal has been replaced 3 or 4 times and the slip yoke was also replaced in the last time. But it still leaks. My guess is that it is a factory defect. I usually just check the oil and replace as needed. The radiator and gas tank were redone a while back. Everything is original except the voltage regulator (I do have the original). All gauges, lights, horns, heater and turn signals work. The paint job is between 30 and 35 years old but it looks good for it's age. Both rear fenders and a small area of the trunk was touched up but was not done to well. You have to get close to the car to notice it. It does have a few scratches and a little spot of bubbling on the lower left front fender where it meets the running board. The right front door does close flush on the bottom. The interior (seats and headliner) was done 20 years ago and still looks good. However there are 2 small melted spots on the drivers side from a shorted lead wires.And the interior is also showing some signs of wear. There is a small chip on the drivers windshield which is the way I got it. One thing which has never been addressed is the front seat adjustment. It does not remain positioned where it is set. It used slide all the way back while I was driving. My temporary solution was the use of zip ties on both sides of the channel to prevent this from happening and it has worked really good. I just never knew who might be able to fix this so I left it alone. I have put a little over 13,000 miles over the last 20 years just going out for a 5 to 15 mile drive on Sundays. I CAN PROVIDE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS TO SERIOUS BUYERS SHOWING AREAS SUCH AS PAINT CONCERNS, GLASS CHIP, INTERIOR ISSUES, ETC. The car comes with original 1939 Canadian shop manual, parts manual, and owners manual. There is also a spare carburetor (was working fine when changed out) and fuel pump, fuel filters and other spare parts and goodies. I even have the original 1939 Canadian plates that originally came with the car. Bumpers look really good. Other pot metal areas show some pitting. No rust under the car as far as I can see. I never drive it in the rain or fog. It has been kept in a garage for my 20 years of ownership and for the previous 15 years in Canada, it was kept in a temperature controlled garage. This car has been cared for and loved for the last 35 years (20 by me and 15 between a father and son in Canada). Remember that this is an 82 year old car. It was never fully restored and mostly all original. I have enjoyed driving and owning it for 20 years. It turns heads wherever I go. I am not a mechanic or dealer but I will try to answer all questions. I have many additional photos (around36 more) that I can provide to serious buyers. For those of you who have never owned a Classic or Real Old Car, be aware that these old cars can have parts that break, things that leak, items that fail and breakdowns. Also, this car has manual brakes and manual steering and it is not made for 70 mphdriving. FOR THIS REASON, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TOWING, CAR TRANSPORT OR TRAILERING FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL CAR.
