Description of 1968 Dodge Charger

For sale is a 1968 Charger. It has a newly built 1966 426 Hemi (. 030 over. new pistons. rods. crank. cam. fully machined and balanced. paper work included). MSD ignition system with custom valve covers and air cleaner. new water pump. fuel pump. twin 630CFM Edlerocks. The car is NOT completed. That is to say there is still alot of work to be done. The interior needs to be installed (door panels. window whiskers. arm rest. arm rest base. door knobs. handles. package tray. glove box lining). The good news is it comes with ALL those parts new in the box(es). The exterior is not finished either! Still have to install a trim piece around the vinly top (clips just came in the mail). RT emblem on rear panel. install passenger mirror. I think that's it. Now for the mechanical. It has new brakes (pedal assembly. master cylinder and booster) had to change out because the Hemi took up so much space. The brakes have yet to be bled. Today. no brakes. tomorrow? I try to work a little on the car whenever possible. The car was running when I purchased it albeit with a newly built 440. So I know the rear end and transmission are good (727 torqueflite. Dana 60 . 373 gear). The engine has approximately 1 hour run time on it at idle. The car had a ratchet shifter in it when I bought it so I installed a new console shifter (which it came with originally). complete with new stainless. the car had manual steering in it which would have required a great deal of effort with the Hemi so I installed a new power steering system (column. pump. gear and hoses). there is also a completely new dash with a solid state MP3 radio (in original design). The instruments are all new Dakota Digital. All the window trim is new (sides. front and rear window) as are all the emblems. New gas tank and fuels sending unit. new starter. new stock exhaust manifold with new 3" exhaust. Still have to have the tips installed (included). Also has nice set of electric cutouts (wired under the dash but not finished. The park lights (hood. front and sides. rear tail lights. rear panel trim) are all new. The entire front grill was restored. New dash wiring harness. new tail light harness. new headlight harness. It has it's original power drum brakes all the way around with stock 14" wheels and factory hubcaps. The car has been painted black. base coat clear coat. it shows well. nice lines. The paint has a couple of dings while working on it (see pics). Now for the not so good. The floor pans and half of the trunk were replaced. problem is they did not completely cut out the original floor! Instead they cut out the rusted parts and laid the new floor on top. very unprofessional work. The good news is. that's the worst of it. I'm sure I missed a lot but you have a good general idea of the car. the pics will help to visualize but ask questions if you have them. Outwardly the car looks like the 68 RT Charger from the movie 'Bullit'. Black on black with a black vinyl top. white walls and 14 factory Hubcaps. So the obvious question. why am I selling it and I haven't even finished it? Because one of those SPECIAL cars has become available and I have to at least make an effort to get it. That being said it will only be available for a short time so I'm going for it! If it sells before I get it I'll finish the Charger and enjoy the summer just the same.
