Description of 1959 Edsel Ranger 4-Door Sedan

1959 Edsel Ranger 4-Door Sedan223 6-cylinder with 3-speed Overdrive transmission.
Runs well, drives nicely, cruises at 75-80 MPH without issue. This is a restoration in-progress, I'm just not sure I have the energy or the money to finish it correctly. Obviously the glaring fault is that it needs a paint job. Other than that, it's really minor stuff, none of which need to be done to enjoy the car as-is. I've put about 900 miles on it since I got it running in June of last year.
Here's what I know is good (all work completed within the past year):
  • Recent good tires (installed 1 year/900 miles ago)
  • New shocks (all four wheels)
  • New springs front and rear
  • New sway bar bushings
  • Radiator hot tanked/rodded out
  • New water pump
  • Rebuilt generator
  • New voltage regulator
  • New headlight bulbs
  • All fluids changed
  • Newpinion seal
  • New trans rear seal
  • New overdrive solenoid seals
  • New gas tank
  • New fuel pump
  • New hoses
  • Radio serviced, plays great
  • New radio antenna
  • Windshield wiper motor rebuilt
  • Rebuilt carburetor
  • New wheel cylinders
  • New brake hardware (all 4 wheels)
  • New master cylinder
  • New brake flex lines
  • New rear wheel seals
  • New rear axle bearings
Here's what I believe to be good:
  • Engine rebuiltaround 1500 miles ago, have a receipt for the overhaul and no indication prior owners did much driving after that
  • Overdrive unit functions perfectly and silently
  • Transmission shifts easily
  • Steering is tight with minimal play
  • Glass is all solid and does not appear to be delaminating
  • Body appears solid other than surface rust under some bits of primer, car is a California car with a long history in the state
Here's what still needs to be addressed:
  • Paint (car was previouslyprimer-ed but it was done incorrectly over deteriorating paint, so surface rust is bubbling under the primer)
  • Body work/panel alignment (someone hung the body back together poorly, probably as a temporary measure when they ran out of funds)
  • Front brakes - they function fine, but pull on occasion. I believe the drums are turned to different sizes. I have brand new front drums and shoes to install but haven't had the machine shop stake the drums to the hubs yet. I also haven't measured the drums yet
  • Transmission pops out of second - could be motor mounts or trans mounts, it doesn't do it reliably on deceleration like badsynchros usually would, but I haven't fully investigated yet. I have new motor mounts to install.
  • Reinstall trim after paint/body
  • Headliner wasn't installed properly and will need to be redone
  • Carpet needs to be pulled up and redone correctly
Here's what Ihave that isn't shown. Car comes with:
  • Full set of stainless andchrome trim
  • Full set of Edsel letters / Ranger emblems
  • All 4 matching door panels
  • All painted interior trim
  • Additional sets of trim
  • A bunch of duplicate parts
  • Service manual
  • Parts book
  • A pile of receipts from the previous owner and myself
