Description of 1992 Volvo 240 |
| Clean reliable transportation. This car was starting in the 0' weather a few weeks ago with out hesitation. If you live near Chicago. this car + a set of proper snow tires = you are not gonna get stuck anywhere. All the BMW. Porsche. Mercedes. Jaguar. Pickup Truck and Van drivers out there can't be wrong about getting around in winter in a rear drive car. Kicking the back end out a bit and doing some city drifting is more fun than spinning in a clockwise circle trying to get out of a parking space like you do with front drive cars. Here's a list of recent maintenance done to fix worn out parts in the last month: lots of engine and transmission seals and gaskets to stop all the weeps. seeps and drips. a new water pump and thermostatoverdrive relayexhaust fixestemperature gauge relaydifferential seals and oilfuel line repairsthe timing belt is within spec and no change needed. There are no dents. the interior has no rips in the seats. a couple cracks in the dash. which is almost universal on 240's. all plastic trim and pockets are there and in good shape. all the electric windows. and lights work. The heater and fan work great. Mechanically the car is in fine shape. it starts. it stops. it shifts. it drives and the lights and wipers work. This would make a great first. second. college. winter or commuter car. The only negative points are the odometer stopped working a week before I got my new car. 3 weeks ago. so the miles are only about 20 miles off actual. The repair for this is a plastic gear at the back of the gauge cluster and a few hours of your time. all the other dash gauges and lights work well. There is AC. but not sure if it's working. cold air blows. but it's been cold out. that and if you're nit picking there's a few surface spots of rust that are really minimal. It's a good car that I just don't need and I'm paying for parking on it as it's not currently plated or insured. So. she's gotta go. Volvo 240. Volvo 740. Volvo 244. Volvo 245. Volvo sedan.
