Description of 1963 Studebaker Avanti

This is a very early 1963 Studebaker Avanti. VIN 63R-1652 and engine # R-1366. It needs a complete restoration. I do not know this cars' history except that it has not been run for 20 years. It is 100% complete except for the hubcaps. All of the stainless engine shrouding is in place. It is equipped with powershift automatic transmission. nbsp;factory A/C. rear window defogger and electric windshield washers. It has 3. 31 twin traction rear end. The body is in near perfect condition. The doors open and close perfectly. The original paint is peeling and faded. The chrome is mostly pitted. The stainless trim is near perfect. All the glass is there and is very good. The interior is all there but needs reupholstering. It will need hog troughs and some frame repair. There is a hole on the bottom of the right frame rail just forward of the rear axle. and there is rust through on the bottom of the left rail near the rear bumper mount. The rear cross member is rusted through. The engine turns freely but I have not attempted to start it. The car rolls. Please take the time to look at all of the photos I have attached. When I acquired this car. the transmission was disassembled and in the trunk. My guess is that is what took this car off the road. Being a retired professional transmission rebuilder I completely rebuilt the unit and had the torque converter remanufactured. It was dyno tested and works as it should. I did not reinstall it because it would only need to come out again to restore the car. ALL of the attaching hardware and mounts are there and accounted for. This car would make someone an easy. straight forward restoration project. I have a clear Florida title in hand. There is no reserve and will sell to the highest bidder. Thanks for looking!
