Description of 1952 Ferrari Other

Up for auction is an original 1952 Allied Swallow body.

The Allied Swallow was the brainchild of 3 legendary men. Mickey Thompson, who was well known for his racing and speed components, Bill Burke, who built the first belly-tank lake-bed racer and Roy Kinch. Together they founded Atlas Fiberglass Inc. that later became Allied.

The Allied was produced from a mold taken from an original 1946 Cisitalia 202. Cisitalia produced 175 202’s whereas the Allied had a far lower production number of only 25.

The Pininfarina designed 202 was highly regarded as a masterpiece of styling art and has been displayed in several art museums including MOMA, The Phoenix Art Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

The Allied Swallow was originally sold as body, glass, lights and grill only, and it was up to the buyer to decide on underpinnings. Some used an MG or Crosley chassis, engines varied from MG-T, V8’s to Jag 3.5 liter. Several utilized a Kurtis 500 chassis powered by Lincoln V8’s. Onesuch example sold in 2015 at the RM/Sothebys "The Andrews Collection" auction for $220,000.00

Surely only to appreciate in the coming years. Combining the refinement of European design with underpinnings of American ingenuity, these gems have come into their own and represent an insight into the progression of the home built automobile industry in its infancy.Because of itslineage and colorful beginnings, it has become welcomed in prestigious Concours events such as the 2010 Amelia Island and the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours E'Elegance

The example for sale is one of the original 25 produced, not a copy or replica. Out of long-term storage, it will require some fiberglass/wood restoration. The glass and lights are resting in place to illustrate what is included in the sale.

This body represents a unique opportunity for the purchaser to build a car that would be welcomed at any vintage race or show.

Sold with a bill of sale. The lift is not included in the sale. 10% due at auctions end the balance within 7 days. I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Trucking to the West Coast can be arranged.

Crating for overseas shipment and delivery to an eastern seaport can be accommodatedfor a nominal fee.
