Description of 1966 Fiat 500

Fresh restoration, reat driving!
1966 Fiat 500 Coupe
Chassis number:1054145
A replacement for Fiat's much-loved 500 'Topolino', he Nuova 500 debuted in 1957. A radical departure from its predecessor's essentially pre-war design, IAT's new baby featured unitary construction, n opening fabric roof and all-independent suspension. Carried at the rear, he half-liter engine was an air-cooled overhead-valve twin. The basic 500's austerity was not well received, owever, rompting the introduction of a revised and better equipped version endowed with refinements such as hubcaps, ind-down windows, pholstered rear seat and column-mounted switchgear stalks. This process of step-by-step improvement would continue throughout the 500's life. . . .
The recently imported from Italy car offered here of 1966 vintage was subject to a comprehensive restoration. Starting with a rust-free original car, t was stripped for a re-paint in the desirable blue colour. The car shows no sign of ever having been in an accident and panel fit is consistent and excellent throughout. All Brightwork is in great shape, he windscreen is perfect, nd the car rides on nicely restored wheels shod with good tires.
The fantastically stylish Italian leather interior with diamond stich accents was handmade in Italy and remains in excellent condition throughout. Dash, arpets and panels are all excellent, nd the seats are unmarked, nd feel fresh, ew and comfortable. .
I had this 1966 Fiat 500f restored in Sicily, taly in 2012. I wanted a car that not only looked great, ut was fun to drive too. The original air cooled 500cc 2 cylinder was too anemic by todays standards. I have install a 900cc 4 cylinder with a dual core radiator and oil cooler. This car is fast, un and sounds awesome. The engine and transmission have been fully rebuilt.
Old world charm meets modern technology in a custom built dash console. Prosport digitalgaugesmonitor oil pressure as well as water and oil temperatures. A JVC CD player is hooked up to 4 Rockford Fosgate speakers.
The car is simply a blast to drive! The rebuilt four-cylinder engine starts easily, dles perfectly and offers great, esponsive power from! It accelerates well by even modern eco-box standards and will happily cruise at freeway speeds. The 4-speed shifts perfectly through an excellent clutch. It feels bright and eager to run. I would genuinely drive it anywhere without consideration and have great fun doing it! .
Brakes are great, s is the light and balanced steering, nd the suspension has no untoward creaks or squeaks. It handles as well as any Italian car should. .
All electrical systems work perfectly. .
This is a great opportunity to buy a turn-key icon of Italian motoring and enduring symbol of "la dolce vita", hich seats four comfortably and garners attention, aves and cheers wherever it goes. Not to mention, hat it is a piece of cake to park and about as cheap to run as you can get!!
