Description of 1958 Fiat 500

This is a US spec bug eyed Fiat 500 convertible project. I have had this car from the early 80's and planned to restore it but never got around to doing it properly. It has been hidden in the back of my garage for thirty some years and I think it's time to let go of it. Back in 2008 or so I used it in the GRM Challenge held in Gainesville Florida every year and had some mild magazine/newspaper coverage. I never quite got it to run right and was unable to compete in the autocross portion of the event. I had to adhere to tight budget guidelines for that event so i could not use replacement panels on the floors and just used sheet steel. riveted in. I did install all new brakes. from the master cylinder out to the drums. all new lines. ylinders and shoes. because safety items were not budgeted as long as they were original replacements. I spray bombed the exterior. removed the seats and panels from the interior. and added an Austin engine. That was my reason for not finishing. I could never get the clutch setup right. I have most all of the removed parts but they will need refurbishing to be used. It needs a windshield. has plexiglass installed now and a gas tank or if you have some mad welding skills you can fix the one that's there. Had new radial tires installed for the event but they are a tad to big and on full lock. rub on the inner fender. Transmission is there and the axle cv blocks were changed. Has the roof top frame and front header bar to latch it but no cloth. Have all for hubcaps. all the glass other than the windshield is present. however I seem to recall the rear side glass was a cut down VW replacement done by the previous owner due to breakage. This is a real restoration project that comes with a bill of sale but no title/reg. as that was lost way back when. The first few pictures are from when I pulled it out of my garage. then when I was getting it ready for the challenge and then how it looked in 08 for the event in FL and that basically how it looks now. except the engine is out of it and the original 2 cylinder is there to go back in. It's back buried in my garage again so I don't have any photos that are current. however I will try to get it moved out so I can add some over the holiday weekend. I can help load onto a trailer. into the back of an eight foot pickup truck. the car rolls freely.
